What do you understand by farming.

Agriculture involves the rearing of livestock and tending of crops in a bid to provide a food and the raw materials necessary in the existence of human beings. It encloses different activities of planting crops, watering, weeding, fertilizing and harvesting. Besides, there is farming which involves keeping animals such as cow, goats, poultry and sheep to produce meat, milk, eggs among others.

A farm may be practiced on a small scale or subsistence scale like backyard garden or commercial large-scale with modern gears and high-level technology. And it is also the backbone of most economies and it is critical in food production, job creation and also in the development of remote areas. Honestly farming does not simply imply hard work; it also implies knowledge, the farmer must know about the weather, soil, types of crops and how to take care of animals. To conclude this essay, agriculture is a vital practice that provides life to people and the society worldwide.

Discuss on the different Types of Farming and the importance of each.

Farming has various forms, every form performs a specific purpose and is adapted to certain environment. Subsistence farming Subsistence farming is the kind of farming that is found to be practiced mostly in rural zones where the farmers still cultivate crops and either raise them or their farms to their family or personal consumption. It guarantees the isolation of food security at the household. Commercial farming entails large scale farming of crops and animals to be sold in markets. It stimulates economic growth and it creates jobs. Mixed farming is where crops are grown alongside farm animals, using a single farm, increasing output and source of income.

Organic agriculture will not use synthetic chemicals, hence the healthy food and environmental sustainability. In arid regions, water supply to the farm is done artificially through irrigation activities, making farming to continue throughout the year. Nomadic agriculture entails migration with livestock that seek pasture and this practice is shared by pastoralists. All kinds of farming are significant: they guarantee food supply, maintain the income of its habitants, rural development and economical growth of a country. So naturally, they are the mainstay of food chains worldwide.
