Animal Activities #33
INTRODUCTION |

Hello my people on Steemit,
How are you doing? Today I want to share one good village story that will make you smile and maybe think a little. For me, story is not just for laughter — sometimes it is the way we pass wisdom from mouth to mouth. So relax as I drop this one about one stubborn goat that surprised everybody.
The Story |
---|
They called him Okoro the goat.
Okoro was not an ordinary goat. His horn was big like a hook, his eyes always shined like he was planning something. He had one special walking style — he walked like a king, raising his chest and looking at other animals like, “You are not on my level.” Even the hunters in the village knew that this goat had more sense than normal.
Okoro’s owner was an old woman, Mama Ifiok. Mama Ifiok loved the goat very much because Okoro always found ways to bring her small luck. If she wanted to go to the market, the goat would walk in front, then she would sell plenty of things. If rain was about to fall, Okoro would first become restless. So the woman always said, “God sent this goat to me.”
But trouble started the year the village king announced a competition for animals. The king said: “Let us see which animal has the most intelligence, we will crown it with a small title. The animal will have the right to eat from the palace farm for a whole year.”
All the villagers were happy, they began to register their animals. Dogs, chickens, cats, even one monkey from the bush. Mama Ifiok did not want to register Okoro at first, but the goat kept disturbing her. Anytime she tied him, Okoro would loose the rope and rush to the palace side. Then people started shouting: “This goat is begging to join the competition!” Finally, Mama Ifiok registered him.
The Competition |

The first test was a race. As they released Okoro, instead of running straight to the food, the goat stopped, bent his head, and chased the other animals off the road. They scattered, and Okoro walked gently to the food and began to eat it alone.
The king laughed, “This goat is stubborn but wise.”
The second test was to cross the river. Other animals were struggling, but Okoro used his horn to loose a canoe rope, jumped inside the boat like a passenger, and the river carried him across. The crowd shouted:
“Heeeyyy! The goat is using a boat!”
The third test was wisdom. The king hid yam in a basket. Okoro did not rush, he smelled the king’s wrapper, bit it slightly, and yam stain appeared. Everybody shouted: “It is yam inside!” The king was shocked and nodded.
The final test was bravery. A masquerade chased the animals. Chickens scattered, the monkey screamed, the dog hid. But Okoro stood, bent his horn, and charged the masquerade down. People roared: “Okoro is a warrior!”
That was how the king crowned him Animal Chief of the Village.
After Victory |

Okoro’s life changed. Guards escorted him, and Mama Ifiok became a celebrity. But Okoro’s stubbornness did not reduce — from climbing roofs to raiding yam stores. Still, nobody could touch him.
Then a lion entered the bush and disturbed the farms. The hunters were afraid. Okoro stepped forward, horn ready. The king nodded for Okoro to lead. Everybody was shocked.
In the bush, the lion roared. Okoro charged straight and hit the lion’s chest. The hunters rushed and tied the lion. People could not believe it. Goat fought lion, goat won.
Children sang, women danced, traders carried the story to other towns. Okoro’s name became a legend.
Final Thoughts |

My people, that is how life is. If a goat can become chief in the palace, then a human being should not give up on his own dream. No matter how small people see you today, remember that tomorrow may carry your crown.
Thanks for reading my story. I hope it gave you some laughter and also some wisdom. I am waiting for your comments and I appreciate y’all.
