BOUNTIFUL HARVEST
Nothing is more satisfying than reaping ones fruit of labour in due season.
When we plant, we don't just throw stems into the Soil and leave, we do it with hope. When we go to harvest, we go with hope. And if all things being equal, and the creator by our side, we reap bountifully.
So yesterday, my mom asked if I'll join them at the farm, that she wanted to go get some cassava that she'll use to make fufu.
Although I had something to handle , I suspended that to join mama at the farm.
We packed up every tool we needed for the farm work;
Hoe, Spade, Two big machetes, Indian hoe and some sag bags.
And then we set out on our early morning journey.
We left by 9 am , and it was just 10 minutes drive to the place.
The farm is located at AkwaIbom state university Obio Akpa Campus.
I made a detailed post about the school here;
So after arriving, my dad started making ridges on empty ground.
That's when I was shown how big the land was. About 2 plots. That's quite big . And some parts had already been harvested and used to make garri. So this was the second time we were going. I didn't join them the first time though.
We started by clearing some thick weeds and crawlers which held the cassava stem to prevent us from uprooting. So when those big weeds were cleared, it was then easy to harvest.
The cassava was cultivated on ridges, so we were taking it line by line.
When we harvest the cassava with the stems, we didn't cut them out from the stems immediately, instead we kept them in one place, so as to avoid going round to gather them later.
After some hours, this was 12 noon already ,our bodies were getting tired, we have to devour what we came with as appetizer ohhh; Bread and Groundnut.
The combo is goated , you should try it someday.
After eating and relaxing for about 15 minutes, our bodies were energized once again. This was going to be the last round of work. After this , we were going to go home straight. Because when the real hunger comes, they'll be nothing to calm it down.
So we continued from where we stopped, we harvest half of what was left when we came in. But my mom claimed that we didn't cover enough space like they did last time, since our Dad didn't join us to harvest. But was making new ridges instead.
However, something funny happened later . After arranging the stems with the cassava and cutting them out, we discovered that we filled three sag bags.
My mom was shocked, because we covered a small area of land ,but the harvest was more the the last time which they covered a larger areas.

She said the last time, the only went home with two filled sag bags.
A d she thought that was good enough.
But here she was , struggling to make the third bag contain all that was left.
Bountiful Harvest Indeed. Because Obong Iwang don land na. [Because me King of farm work is on ground 😂😆]

We finished packing the bags, then our Dad went to drop the first two bags at home, then he came back to get the second bag, after which he will come for us.
While we were waiting, I did a little race with my little bro, of which I got injure by my own toe nails.😂
While working, I had no injury ooo. But just to play a bit, I was injured.
I quickly washed it with water and tired it up to dry.
We waited for our Dad to come back and get us, which he did.
