Star fruits
Star fruit is also known as carambola, is a tropical fruit native to Asia. But it's also found in my country here Nigeria. Infact, the image was taken from my mom's garden. It's a type of fruit that belongs to the Oxalidaceae family.
Thier characteristics include a unique star shape when sliced in cross-section. A sweet but slightly sour taste with a flavour like a mixture of pineapple orange and it's texture is crispy and juicy.
Star fruits are rich in antioxidants, potassium and vitamin C. They're low in calories which makes it a good snack.
They can be consumed as whole or mixed with other for desert, fruit salad, smoothie and so on.
They're good immune booster, very good heart health support because of the presence of potassium which help to lower blood pressure.
The antioxidants helps to prevent cell death and impact of oxidative stress.
