Is cruelty starting from childhood

 

We all had some situations in our live when we had contact with some animals. One of the memories that I recall from my childhood is the time when I visited my grandparents. My grandfather had a little barn away from their home, where he kept all the necessary stuff for household, once my grandfather told me that he gave a shelter to few homeless cats and kittens. Actually I knew that my grandparents love cats, they did not have in their own house but they decided to give them space in this barn.

I loved visiting this place with my grandfather. Usually once a day he visited this place and had some food and either water of some milk. The cats got used to that and at the certain time started to make sound of asking for food.

One day when we were walking to bard, I saw from a distance that there were some boys at the wall of our barn, they were climbing on wall and throwing stones over, it was easy to guess that they were targetting the cats. They had fun and were laughing. When I saw that I told grandfather that we have to hurry up otherwise they may hurt or even kill some of them. My grandfather was not able to walk faster and he did not want me to go ahead because he was concerned that the boys also will hurt me. The only what he could do, he started to shout from distance so that the boys run away. Of course, they saw that we are coming but also they saw that we are slow and were laughing at us but continued what they were doing. My grandfather tried his best to hurry up and almost was out of breath. Finally when we arrived, the boys then gone. When we entered our barn we found that cats were save and did not have injuries but they were frightened. We had relief and feed the cats. My grandfather, then decided to do a small room inside of barn so that nobody could see the cats from outside. Since then luckily there was no more such incidents.
