Animal Activities #42

a boy named Rafi lived with his mother in a simple hut.
Every day, Rafi and his mother collected firewood and planted in their tiny garden. Their life was simple butvRafi always wore a smile. He had a best friend who always kept him company: a brown dog named Bono.

Bono was no dog, he defined them. Rafi had stumbled upon him two years ago on the riverbank, in a rainstorm like tonight. Shivering, his fur was dirty and his paws hurt. Rafi brought him home without a second thought. Since that day, Rafi and Bono have never been apart. They ate the last crust of bread, dreamed by the warmth of the stove, dreamed of a better world.

One day as Rafi and Bomo were playing in the fields they heard a distant cry. Rafi followed the sound and he arrived at a child who was stuck in a mud hole. Rafi went down to help: but without thinking the ground crumbled away beneath his feet. Rafi slipped and that was the last thing he was able to do. Bono barked fiercely and ran towards the village like the wind yelling for help with a long howl.

Hearing Bono barking, the villagers immediately ran towards the sound. They recovered Rafi, feeble and half submerged in mud. Because of Bono, Rafi was saved just in time. The child was successfully hoisted out and returned to its owner.

And from that day on, Bono was a little hero in the village. People frequently fed him, but Bono was the happiest when he was right alongside Rafi. They seared to all with what genuine friendship between human and animal — unselfish, limitless, simply loyalty and love.

That night, the rain came again. Sitting at the Door, Strolling Bono on the pavement, Rafi watched over him. “Thank you, friend,” he whispered quietly. Bono smiled at him with warm eyes, as if to tell him "I will always keep you safe".

In the chill of the night and the soft pattering of the rain, the two companions were close — proving that love and devotion are not confined to mankind, but that an innocent companion such as Bono has an equal claim to such emotions!
