Art Explained by a Writer: Crispín and Scapín

"Have you read that letter I wrote yet? It's just a 5-minute read."

"You know I don't read."

"Yes, but I need to tell you something important, and it'll only work if you read what I spent all night writing."

"Oh come off it. You, of all people, know me well enough. I never read books, never pick up a paper, can't be bothered with film subtitles. I skim headlines at best. Couldn't care less what's said or written. I like my peace, not people trying to run my life. Get that? Just let me watch the parade in peace. Finally, after a year and a half, the circus is back in town. Seen that clown? Always dreamed of joining the circus. Travelling about, making folks happy."

"But..."

"Shh... leave me be. I'm not your property. We had an agreement: I live my life, you live yours. Don't care what you've got to say. If I've questions, I'll make a list and let you know. You're not on it. Not a priority. All I want is to do what I fancy. Sorry, love, but given the chance, I'm off with the circus, and I know you won't miss me. Plenty of other parishioners for you to boss about and make miserable."

"Please..."

"What did I say? Stop whispering in my ear. It gives me the proper creeps. And you know you're as welcome as a toothache. There they are. I'm already dressed. Cheerio, I'm joining the circus!"

Jeje. "Secreto en reunión es de mala educación" dice un refrán popular venezolano. Bueno, por lo visto, no hay acuerdo entre el que secretea y el que lo escucha, jeje.
