A TRADITIONAL WEDDING AND THE BEAUTY OF EARLY MARRIAGE

I recently witnessed a beautiful traditional marriage ceremony, and I must say it was one of the most thrilling and memorable events I’ve participated in. The couple tied the bind in a cultural setting that was filled with joy, laughter, blessings, and a deep sense of tradition. Everything about the wedding was charming—from the rich ornamentation to the music, food, dancing, and especially the attire worn by both the bride and groom.

The ceremony stayed true to the customs of the land. The bride wore a beautifully tailored traditional outfit with accessories that sparkled under the sun, while the groom came out looking regal in his native attire. The family elders were involved in every step, blessing the union and offering wisdom to the couple. I particularly loved how everything was done with respect to cultural values, and it made me feel connected to our roots.

Personally, I would love my own wedding to be done in a similar traditional way because it brings a special kind of joy and blessing that modern weddings sometimes miss. Now, talking about marriage, one thing I’ve observed is that many people are beginning to appreciate the value of early marriage. While it’s true that timing is personal and everyone’s journey is different.

BENEFITS OF GETTING MARRIED AT AN EARLY AGE

I believe that marrying at a young age has its own special advantages. First of all, early marriage can help people grow together. When two young people come together early in life, they have the possibility to build their future side by side.

They experience life’s ups and downs together and support each other emotionally, mentally, and even financially. The bond they create in those early years can be very strong because they’re growing into adulthood together. Secondly, early marriage can reduce the chances of engaging in social vices, especially in places like West Africa, where young people—especially girls—are at risk of falling into dangerous lifestyles.

Sadly, some young girls get involved in prostitution, unwanted pregnancies, or even become victims of rape because they lack proper guidance, structure, or protection. Early marriage, when done right and with agreement, can serve as a way to guide young people and help them focus on building a balanced and secure life.

It’s also worth noting that when you marry early and have children early, you get to enjoy more time with them. You watch them grow while you’re still vibrant and active. By the time you’re in your 40s or 50s, your children may already be grown and settled, and you have more time to relax, travel, or pursue personal aims. However, it’s necessary to mention that early marriage isn’t for everyone.

Emotional maturity and readiness are key. Marriage demands patience, sacrifice, and understanding. It’s not just about age but about being prepared for the obligation that come with it. In all, the traditional wedding I witnessed prompted me of the beauty of our culture and the strength of family values.

The love, unity, and contentment in that celebration were unmatched. And it gave me hope that with the right perspective and maturity, early marriage can be a lovely expedition filled with growth, companionship, and purpose. And when done traditionally and with intention, it can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in a person’s life.
