Steemit Learning Challenge-S27W1; Physiofit; Pain-free Challenge

Every living thing in the world has feelings and senses. The creature that has feelings must feel pain several times in its life. We, humans, at some point, make pain an art. Well, let's come to the point.

Welcome to the 1st week of Steemit Challenge, Season 27. This is about Physiofit; Pain-free Challenge. Our beloved mentor, @ashkhan, discussed the basics of pain, including its types, differences, and pathology. Here is what I've learned from this week so far...................

T1: Pain, Types, Pathology

Pain is that aching feeling that we suffer when we get hurt or encounter an accident, sometimes, inner damage like a nerve failure or tissue damage, or a broken muscle. It makes us discomfort and disrupts our usual lives.

Types

There are various types of pain. Immediate pain like acute pain, prolonged pain like chronic pain, and neuropathic pain.

Acute Pain

Acute pain is a tremendous kind of pain as the name suggests. Usually, it’s a short-term pain. When we get hurt or encounter a heavy or mild accident, a broken muscle or dental infection, or inflammation, we feel this type of pain.

Short-term treatment like a painkiller or ice pack can cure acute pain.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is a pain that lasts long-term. If a pain lasts for more than 3 months, categorize it as chronic pain. Many reasons can cause chronic pain. Untreated acute pain, which could damage tissue later becomes chronic pain. Arthritis is one of the most common chronic pain diseases, mainly in our joints. Back pain is also a chronic pain.

Neuropathic Pain

Neuropathic pain is also a chronic pain. But it has a different reason. When our nervous system or spinal cord, or brain faces some damage or irritation, this kind of pain occurs. Most of the diabetic patients have this kind of pain.

Pathology

Acute pain can be treated by using a painkiller or an ice bag. Heavy damage like fractures needs plaster if the joint or muscle has been relocated by the accident.

Chronic pain is long-lasting pain. In some cases, it never cures 100%. But, we can try. Using a Hot bag could prove effective in this case. Regular exercise can heal the pain slowly. I saw many people take medicine to reduce the pain. In cases like arthritis, medicine helped a lot. For back pain, many people use a lumbar corset

Since, neuropathic pain is a kind of chronic pain, it is also treated the same way.

T2: A patient, symptom, and history of injury & illness.

Since, I am a pharmacist, I have met a lot of patients who are suffering from chronic pain, such as arthritis and back pain. I am sharing the history of a patient here. But she refused to share her identity and I'm OK with this.

Her name is Hasina. A school teacher. She has been working as a teacher for almost two decades. For standing several hours a day for a long time, she got back pain. For the first couple of months, she ignored the pain. When it turned into total discomfort, she had an appointment with a Medicine Specialist. She was prescribed a few painkillers and calcium, and vitamin D3. For the next few months, she didn’t feel the pain again. The pain comes back after a year. Now, she has been suffering from this pain for almost six years.

To get relief, she is using a Hot water bottle, a lumbar corset, a few physical exercises, and regular medicines.

T3: Perform and Exercise

Pain management is the key to getting relief from it. That's why pain-relieving exercise is necessary.

I didn’t have any patients to exercise. I personally tried the Low Back Pain Stretches, so that, in case, I can help someone get rid of low back pain.

It was very easy to perform. Lie down on the floor. My feet, hip, bone, neck, and head were stuck to the floor. At first, I put up one of my legs at 90 degrees from my body. I hang it for 3-5 seconds and do the same for my other leg. I did it for a minute.

The result was amazing. I didn’t feel that right way. I exercised yesterday. When I woke up today, there was no pain in my back in the morning. I never thought it was a problem. But, when today morning I didn’t feel any pain, I was sure that I had some back pain too. I will continue to do this exercise.

This challenge is helpful for our physical ability. I already got a positive result. I would like to suggest @kibreay001, @afrinn, and @mostofajaman to participate in this challenge.

Task 1 (0.75/1.5)You shared good knowledge about pain, its types and pathology. What I was looking for was that someone would add extra, you share some extra about pain and explain very well. But it would be better if you add only about 2 main types of acute and chronic pain. Secondly, I asked for the pathology of acute and chronic pain, like how the body responds to these, and what mechanism happens in the body.
Task 2 (2.5/2.5)Good to hear that you're a pharmacist and sharing a case study with us. Yes, low back pain is common among females due to prolonged standing, sitting, and post-delivery. Medication can relieve the pain for few months or years but later you have to perform exercises to get ride of that. Secondly we need to teach them about posture and body mechanics while standing or in any occupation.
Task 3 (5/6)I am glad that you understand the lesson and completed all the questions, but it would be better if you apply a hot pack before exercise and show that as well. You perform the exercise well, and that's good. You stretch each side for 5 seconds, but try to stretch for 20 seconds because less than 20 seconds is not enough. Next time, try to perform at least 2 things: apply a hot or cold pack, and perform one more exercise.
