RE: ❓Steemit Quiz 2025 - Week 12

in NO Community3 months ago

12 down, 40 to go!

Wow, to see it black on white we still have quite a long way to go from here...

Thank you for the benies, I didn't expect that. I designed the questions for the fun of puzzling, for the fun of tricking the AI. It doesn't always work...
Does it look like I'm ‘working’ for rewards now? I didn't want that (yes, I know, I am a bit starnge and sensible concerning this point...), I just wanted to keep the - really awesome - interaction going. And for that it would be really nice if a few more users would take part in guessing and developing the questions. Seeing the AI runners at the top again and again is a bit frustrating. What do you think (all of you, including participants): Would it make sense if everyone or every team that got a point has to prepare a question next?

Hehe, I just made one. Not sure if it’s too easy or too hard, though. Before switching to a satellite image, I tried a random Google Street View image where you have to guess the country… but unfortunately, ChatGPT nails it every time...

I agree - it’s a great way to step up the game (and the fun), but it’s tough to come up with a question that ChatGPT can’t solve easily.

I already saw it and have no idea. No idea how to solve it since I am no Google Earth user. So for me it's too hard without hints. For example, the first thing I thought of was water. Farmed fish ponds or salt pans. Phew, they're everywhere. But it could also be a complex of buildings. Haha, they're everywhere too... You see, I won't be able to solve it...
To be honest, I don't have much time to deal with it either, real life is raging. That's why I won't be able to develop a question that doesn't just pop into my head (like ‘The Wall’ - I could do that in a flash on mobile, but of course it was far too easy...).
And all this tells me that my suggestion is rather suboptimal, because why should others (of the few participants in the quiz) fare differently from me? Nobody will develop a question if they are ‘forced’ to do so.

I already gave a hint. I actually enjoy messing around with google earth as a pastime. :-)

Well, I just did - though not out of obligation. I was just curious to give it a shot. (Honestly, I just like tossing a thumbs down every now and then.) The tricky part is the AI… it made things harder and way more time-consuming than expected - and yes, not many people enjoy that.

real life is raging

Of course, it's the most important thing :-)

Is it mean for me to think "I'm pleased that others are discovering this 🙂"

Only when I tried it myself did I finally understand how complex and time-consuming it is to come up with questions. I can now fully empathize with you 🙂

I'm just loving how this is turning out - the Steemit quiz has become a group effort, with everyone getting a chance to take part in developing the questions themselves.

It wouldn't be so bad if ChatGPT didn't exist - but it shortcuts any element of research and has killed more of my questions that you'll have seen.

This change has been a saviour for me. As I've mentioned, I need to prioritise coding now so spend hours creating and testing questions just isn't feasible any more. I used to create questions in batches of 3 so that I'd have some ready but I've not even had a chance to think about them!

I think you've probably also realised why some categories are revisited more frequently than others - as they're much harder for AI to solve.

Understandable 🙂 Alex and I talked about this - we'll help with the questions whenever we can. It's not even about the rewards anymore, we just hate it when it's so damn quiet 😄

Thanks - I appreciate that! I'll try to chip in with more questions than I have done this week!

I saw this today so it would appear that the Steem API is wrong for some reason.

I saw the hint and looked up for several heli(air)ports. No chance... Someone els has to develop the next question... ;-D

I gave another hint. But of course, I'm waiting for the next question...

Does it look like I'm ‘working’ for rewards now?

Absolutely not! I just want to be fair with the effort going in to questions and this was my way of making it feel fair 🙂

Would it make sense if everyone or every team that got a point has to prepare a question next?

I've thought about this... the only thing that's stopped this is if it becomes a barrier to entry or if others aren't willing to put the same care into asking questions as we do.
