I doubt if anyone will have the development resources for either of those changes any time soon.

No, and I doubt it's a priority. SBD's still got a market cap of around $6m and presumably many of those holdings are on exchanges which adds another layer of complexity. Perhaps when the market cap's lower, it would make more sense although as you say, it's unlikely anybody will want to spend the time on this.
