And some years it can be true, but often summer weather doesn’t really start in Newfoundland until mid July, even then, the usually sunny day time temperatures are averaged out to 18°C or so.
There have been some really hot summers the past few years, I feel like it’s going to continue to get warmer in this area. Hopefully anyway! LoL

I didn't realize that the summer weather started so late there. I was assuming that the ocean moderated the temperatures there.

It’s true it does moderate it, but mostly the Atlantic just prevents us from freezing solid in winter, keeps us closer to 0°.
Ponds and lakes will freeze over for a while, but it’s a lot of freezing and thawing, and so much slush! 🤪
