Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,

You already know that I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what's happening within the Cricket community. It's the 99th edition now.

As I discussed last week, the world of Cricket is pretty busy right now, especially with the ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 cycle.

Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka, 2025

  • The Bangladesh team is in Sri Lanka right now, for a full series of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, 3 T20s from June 17 - July 16.

  • After winning the Test series, we dominated the ODIs as well, winning it 2-1.

  • The first match was held at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, where we saw the balling dominance from both teams. Sri Lanka started the batting, and the top order didn't perform as expected. Kusal Mendis contributed with 45, but the highlight was from Charith Asalanka. Came at 29-3 in the 7th over, and he sensibly carried the inning till the end with the lower order scoring 106 runs. The pitch was not easy, and we were all out for 244 runs in the 50th over.

After losing the first wicket early, Shanto and Tanzid Hasan had a 71-run partnership. From 100/1, they ended up 105/8 - a disastrous collapse for them courtesy of Hasaranga and Kamindu Mendis. Jaker Ali tried hard with 51 runs, but Bangladesh was all out for just 167 runs in the 36th over.

  • In the second match, Bangladesh came strongly to keep the series alive. They started the batting, and on this difficult pitch, they posted a total of 248/10. Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy contributed with fifties, and towards the end, Tanzim Hasan Sakib played a handy quick knock to put this total.

SL openers once again failed, but Kusal Mendis carried the hope with a 20-ball fifty. But Tanvir Islam destroyed the batting lineup with a few quick wickets. Once we were 156/7, but Janith Liyanage tried harder until the end with the tailenders. He scored 78 runs, but couldn't complete his effort, as Bangladesh won the match by 16 runs.

  • The decider was held at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. Sri Lanka started the batting, and it was a quality effort thanks to the hundred from Kusal Mendis. He was in full form in this series. Asalanka scored a fifty as well. Even with a small collapse towards the end, Sri Lanka scored 285-7.

Bangladesh started well with a few boundaries, but ballers were phenomenal, taking regular wickets, and breaking the partnership. Especially, Asitha Fernando and Dushmantha Chameera, and also the spinners, did well to restrict BD to just 186 runs. With that 99-run win, Sri Lanka won the ODI series as well.

India tour of England, 2025

  • Well, it's a high-tension series on English soil with 5 red ball matches. Both teams are well-equipped and well-armed. After losing the first match, India replied with a strong win in the second one at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

  • This is nothing but a brilliant overall performance from India. They batted first and lost Rahul early. Jaiswal scored 87 runs, but wickets fell regularly, and once they were at 211/5. But there's one guy, hunting for runs. The captain, Shubman Gill, paired up specially with the lower middle order and played one hell of a knock. With Jadeja, he made a 203-run partnership for the 6th wicket, and another 144 runs with Washington Sundar.

Gill scored 269 runs, breaking and setting many records. It was filled with his unique and classic shots. It's the highest score for an Indian in England. With that effort, India set a total of 587/10 in 151 overs.

  • The reply could have been horrible, unless two players. England lost 5 wickets for just 84 runs. But Harry Brook and Jamie Smith paired up and added 303 runs for the 6th wicket, scoring 150+ runs by both. There were 6 ducks in England's innings, and they were all out for 407 runs. Akash Deep and Siraj were phenomenal, sharing all 10 wickets.

  • India's second inning was much quicker, hoping for a good lead and a win. Rahul, Pant, and Jadeja scored fifties. Gill once again scored 161 runs, showcasing his amazing talent. His 430-run aggregate is the second highest by a batter in a Test match. India declared the innings at 427/6 giving a target of 608 runs. But it was a horrible run chase from them, being all out for just 271 runs. Akash Depp grabbed another 6 wickets, and India won the match by 336 runs

Australia tour of West Indies, 2025

  • It's another big series with 3 Tests, 5 T20s. After Australia won the first match in a low-scoring encounter, the result of the second one was also the same.

  • It was held in the National Cricket Stadium, St Georges, Grenada. Australia's 1st Innings was restricted to 286/10 by Windies ballers. Webster and Carey contributed with half-centuries. In reply, the West Indies put in a total of 253/10. Brandon King made 75 runs.

  • Being 33 runs ahead, Aussies added 243 runs. This time, Green and Smith scored fifties. Shamar Josaph took four wickets. West Indies needed 277 runs for a win. Anyway, it was a horrible effort from them as they could only get 143 runs. Only one player could pass the 30-run mark. Each and every baller was getting wickets. Australia won by 133 runs, and Carey won the man of the match award.
