Shah Sultan Balkhi Mahisawar (R,A) Shrine, & Central Mosque (Mahasthangarh, Bogura)
ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Dear friends, I hope everyone is doing well. I have brought an interesting place to your attention that I will tell you about. I will present two things at the same place: one is a shrine and the other is a mosque. Since they are in the same place and there is no way to show many things separately at the shrine, I will present both things to you at the same time.
Shah Sultan Balkhi Mahi Sawar (RA) established this shrine here. He was the emperor of the Balkh province of Afghanistan. He was the son of the emperor Shah Ali Asgar of the Balkh province and was declared emperor after his father's death. However, he renounced his empire and became a dervish, arriving in Pundravardhana after initially reaching Sandwip in Bengal in 440 Hijri. Later, he came to Mahasthangard (the capital of Pundravardhana).
Here you can see a grave and surrounding it, they pray to win this grave and ask for blessings so that he remains well and we also remain well because of him. Although this is not permissible in Islam and is considered haram, there are some followers who practice it. I went there only as a picnic spot and for sightseeing. While being there, I noticed another thing that there are several other graves around that shrine.
Here you can see several news items, and as far as I could find out, this is about that saint, whose news is related to his shrine and his disciples. The trusted disciples of the saint who have passed away have been buried at this shrine. That was the discussion about the shrine. Now I will move on to discuss the mosque here.

This mosque and this shrine are so high that it becomes very difficult to see from below, just like it seems to be a mountain. We have to climb at least three to four flights of stairs. After that, various items have been placed in different areas, including toilets, ablution areas, and a prayer place for women. There is a very large song which, as far as I know, is provided in the government publications of our Bangladesh. Moreover, information about this mosque and shrine is also given in the academic books available.
FIRST, YOU HAVE TO CLIMB THE STAIRS AT SUCH A STEP.
AFTER THAT, THERE IS A VERY NICE ARRANGEMENT FOR WASHING.
A SEPARATE SIGN HAS BEEN DISPLAYED FOR THE WOMEN'S ABLUTION AREA.
A SYSTEM OF SUCH A CONCEPT HAS BEEN CREATED IN FRONT OF THE MOSQUE.
THERE ARE SEPARATE TOILET FACILITIES FOR MEN HERE, AND THE BUILDING IS STILL ARRANGED FOR WOMEN.
BESIDES, THERE WAS A MAD SAINT HERE, AND AFTER HE DIED, A SHRINE WAS BUILT FOR HIM.
The outside area and the place seemed to me like an expansive open field, with some parts enclosed by the mosque's courtyard. There are many people here, completely free of charge; no tickets are required to enter, just like there are no tickets needed to enter a shrine or a mosque. So, this is open to everyone. After performing ablution, when I entered inside to offer my prayers, I was very impressed by the interior, which I am showing you.
I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE WALL OF THE MOSQUE AND ONE SIDE, HERE THERE IS AN AIR CONDITIONING ARRANGEMENT.
THERE ARE SEVERAL DOORS LIKE THIS TO GO OUTSIDE THE MOSQUE, WHICH ARE TRULY BEAUTIFUL.
THERE ARE SEVERAL SUCH SYSTEMS IN THE MOSQUE, HERE THERE ARE SHELVES THAT FUNCTION LIKE A WARDROBE SYSTEM.
THE MAIN POINT OF THE MOSQUE IS WHERE THE IMAM SITS AND GIVES SERMONS AND LEADS THE PRAYERS.
I TOOK A SELFIE WHILE STAYING INSIDE THE MOSQUE.
THERE ARE SEVERAL BOXES INSIDE THE MOSQUE WHERE SHOES ARE KEPT.
ALSO, THERE IS SOMETIMES A BASKET LIKE THIS WHERE A HAT IS PLACED.
In a word, I liked the mosque the most and the area is very spacious. Interestingly, this place is always open, so anyone can come at any time. It's not just open for the five daily prayers; rather, it's open all the time and there are many people on the mosque's porch. Additionally, I want to say a few words, sometimes many people come here to hang out rather than just staying in one place and can meet their needs. I really liked this place.
