Before I start, I want to share what is a ghat in Bangladesh. A ghat is a specific area on the bank of a river where boats, ferries or other means of transportation are used to cross the river. This specific place for water transportation is called a ghat.

Lets Explore The Bandar Ghat

I went to this place in the afternoon. The cool water of the river and the blue-white sky were sparkling. There is comparatively less crowd at this time. However, I had a hard time in the hot sun. As I said at the beginning, there are three options for crossing the river. I see three crossing mediums from the point. Since the ferry is a government vehicle, it operates at a fixed time. But you can easily cross in a motor-powered boat and a dinghy boat in just two to three minutes. There is comparatively less crowd in a dinghy boat, only two to three people cross there together. I will go to the other side of the river by motor boat.

We crossed a wooden bridge to board the motorized boat. I was initially scared by this bridge because I am not used to boarding such bridges. But it is a wonderful thing and a great surprise for those who love adventure. The bridge has been prepared with two lanes for passengers to go and return so that there is no crowd here. We crossed the wooden bridge and finally boarded the motorized boat. This seemed quite risky to me because even in a day at least 40 to 50 people board the boat which is undoubtedly very risky.

Factory

Sitting in the boat, we see a factory in the distance. This is a well-known brand in Bangladesh that manufactures cement. Such factories are established near rivers so that they can dump their excess waste materials into the river water. Because of this, the water of this river is a bit murky and dirty, and I have also heard that sometimes the water of this river has a bad smell. The river we crossed is called Shitalakshya. It is a major river in Bangladesh.

Water hyacinths

There are many Water hyacinths on both sides of this river. I don't know why Water hyacinths are in the river but I like to see Water hyacinths floating on the river. Now that the water level is rising in the river, these Water hyacinths are coming from different places. Several dinghies are tied up near these Water hyacinths.

Toy store

Going from one side of the river to the other, I saw a children's toy shop. I liked the mobile plastic toy shop on the river. I didn't have any children with me, so I didn't have to buy anything. But I think when children come here, they don't want to go home without toys. Then we paid our fee and went a little further and saw another children's toy shop. The children will definitely be very happy to come here.

What I Eat

1000130915.jpgSpicy Puffed-rice

There are many types of food available here. But my favorite here is Wood Apple. I bought a Wood Apple from there. It cost 30 BDT or so. I also saw a delicious food called Jhal Muri being sold here. The minimum price of Jhal Muri is 20 BDT. When I wanted to take a picture of him, the man refused me, so I couldn't take more pictures.

Tips from my experience

  • Visit this place early in the morning or late afternoon for the best views.
  • Visit this place early in the afternoon for the less crowed.
  • Bring your camera to capture beautiful sunset photos.
  • Wear comfortable shoes as you will probably want to walk along the ghats for the best experience.
  • Don't take your kids on motor boat it’s highly risky.
