Beautiful Phuket | Part 9 | From Where We Had Food
During our vacation, we spent three days in Phuket. I’m going to split our time in Phuket into multiple parts to better cover the wide range of information about the places we visited, the modes of transportation, and the prices.
In this ninth chapter, I’ll share where we had food during our stay in Phuket.
On the first day, since our domestic flight to Phuket was in the morning, we had a slice of pizza as our in-flight meal. After completing the city tour and checking into the hotel, we took a quick wash and went out to look for a place to eat.
That’s when we found Malin Plaza, conveniently located next to our hotel, Ashlee Plaza.
Malin Plaza
Malin Plaza is a mid-scale market located in Patong. You can find fruits, meals, drinks, and plenty of clothing and souvenir stalls there. It’s easy to recognize Malin Plaza by its giant name board and the high metal roof above the stalls. You’ll also notice the set of red umbrellas covering the seating areas.
On our first visit, we found the place clean and well maintained. As you walk through the stalls, vendors invite you to buy their items. Each food stall has a menu displayed in English at the front, making it easy to choose what you want.
Prices are quite consistent across stalls for the same dish, so it really depends on your mood which one to pick. Typically, a single portion starts at around 80 Baht, which is very reasonable.
When it comes to options, they offer rice dishes, famous Thai noodle dishes, seafood, spring rolls, fries, kebabs, and much more.
There are also separate stalls for smoothies, fresh juices, and alcoholic beverages. Fresh juices start from 50 Baht, usually served with no added sugar.
Seafood and fish are displayed fresh, and you can even pick your choice to be cooked.
We ended up having most of our dinners at this place.
Bangla Road Food Street
On the evening of our arrival, we walked to Bangla Road and had dinner there. Bangla Road has a food street with a wide variety of foods and beverages.
Interestingly, they even serve exotic items like crocodile meat and live seafood such as lobsters, crabs, and more. Vegetarian options are available too.
Prices start from about 100 Baht, and the food was quite delicious.
Mountain Phuket
For breakfast, we ate at the hotel, which is worth mentioning. We were taken to a restaurant called Mountain Phuket for breakfast. A jeep transported us there, just a short distance from Ashlee Plaza. From what we noticed, guests from multiple nearby hotels were brought here for breakfast.
The breakfast was a buffet featuring Thai, Indian, and Western menus. The spread was extensive, and the menu changed slightly every day.
Most importantly, the exterior was stunning. The restaurant is not only a dining place but also offers experiences like pool parties, kayaking, and more... Mountain Phuket
We were lucky to have our breakfasts here because we had no idea about it until the first morning.
We also had some meals at other places we visited. Overall, food prices in Thailand are comparatively cheaper than in many other countries.
