Motor racing field is dominated by men. I haven't heard any respectable female name in #motorsports. When we talk about racing, the first thing comes to my mind is Formula 1 Racing. And then comes Lewis Hamilton. Watching this documentary series, I got to know that a woman in motor sports is making a move and it's kinda interesting to watch in action.

F1: The Academy is a #Netflix Original #Sports #Documentary series consists of 7 episodes. The series goes around 15 young who are battling for pole positions in races to claim the championship of the season.

Let's get into basics of F1 Academy. 15 of the best young girls in the motor racing field from all over the world get a chance to drive under a brand as a sponsorship for 2 years. The purpose of F1 Academy is to create Formula 1 level female drivers to battle in the biggest level. According their skills, they could sustain in the field or they've to pack and go home.

The format of the championship is usual. Races are held on weekends, one race per day. You have to get into first 12 positions to get points. Pole positions earn higher points- 25, 18 & 15 for 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively. At the end of the 2nd year, the highest scored player will be the champion.

The first step into racing is karting. Before driving cars, these youngsters had karted and won then gained recognition to move forward in racing. That's how they've got into racing. These 15 youngsters are from different countries and from different social levels.

Motor sports are costly, specially in Formula 1. If your parents are wealthy like Al Qubaisi sisters from UAE, you don't have a problem. But for some, sponsorships are essential. Take Bianca Bustamante for example. She has to perform herself not only on the track but on social media also to achieve her dream.

If you look at Abbi Pulling, a young girl from UK from a normal family, has proven her worth by racing and she had earnt those by skill & reputation, not by social media. And there's Lia Block who's the daughter of world famous driver Ken Block, who has a duty to carry on a legacy but she has to prove that she can for others.
