I think it was made clear, again, that "Don't Judge by its cover" is true. When I sort out movies to watch, the name plays a big role. If it sounds like something from fantasy, I don't even consider it. But you know, life plays odds with us every day. So I happened to read about this movie, and I was completely wrong about this movie.

It is "The Lost City of Z". I thought this was a fantasy movie like "Oz: The Great and Powerful". But it's the complete opposite. It is an epic #biography #adventure #movie. It was released back in 2016. The cast is star-studded with Charlie Hunnam (Percy Fawcett), Robert Pattinson (Henry Costin), Sienna Miller (Nina Fawcett), and Tom Holland (Jack Fawcett). Here, the "Z" is spelled as "Zed", not "Zee". That's where I went wrong.

The story takes place in the 1900s and spans about 25 years. Percy Fawcett is a young British major and a skillful horseman and marksman who has battled in a number of overseas missions, such as Hong Kong and Ireland. He's married to Nina, and for now, they have one beautiful boy, Jack. It seems like Percy's father had disgraced the family name by his actions. And now, it's Percy's duty to clean it up.

Even though Percy was performing, he was not welcomed by promotions because of this family issue. That's when his seniors came up with a special mission for him. Percy was told to meet the officials of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) in London, where he is informed that the governments of Bolivia and Brazil are nearly at war due to their border issues.

So the Bolivian and Brazilian governments have requested the British government to survey it and solve the problem. So now, Henry has to leave his family, even though her wife is pregnant with another baby. He has to be there in the jungle for months. But, to clean his family name, he had to make this sacrifice.

Percy goes to Brazil with Corporal Henry Costin, who is familiar with the Amazon rainforest. After a warm welcome at a rubber plantation owned by the Portuguese, the team geared up with the things required. And they were given Lance Corporal Arthur Manley, an Indian guide, and 4 extra men for this journey.

So the expedition starts on the Amazon River. But will it always be smoother? What will they find out in this thick forest? Will Percy Fawcett return home? It's up to you to find out.

Actually, it's too good to be true, this story. Percy Fawcett must be so brave to do so. But the thing is, even though the movie is two and a half hours long, it's not just long enough to tell the whole story of Percy Fawcett. And that feels less encouraging to recommend to others.
