Tech Blog #227 | Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 : Following Others Trends...
Do you want your smartphone small, or do you want a bigger device in the same footprint? Those choices are for two different groups of people. Mostly girls love a small smartphone. So flipping smartphones are popular among girls. It's like that makeup thing that has a mirror on one side. But overall, it packs the normal bar #smartphone factor in a small footprint. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 is their newest update to the Z Flip lineup, and let's have a look at it.
The #Samsung Galaxy Z #Flip 7 brings new things to the table, but those things are new only for the ones who stuck with Samsung. But it should be appreciated that they did the right move, probably at the right time, as Samsung was losing the top position as the best-selling foldable smartphone company.
So Samsung has worked hard on the design this time to answer these problems that most of other manufacturers had answered way before. They extended the cover display coverage with an edge-to-edge design, catching up with Motorola's iconic design. But it lacks extended functionality that Motorola has. And just like in the Z Flip 7, they made a thinner and lighter frame for the Z Flip 7. But it expands up to 6.9 inches when unflipped.
Even though the Z Flip 7 packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Z Flip 7 packs the homemade Exynos 2500!! which is OK... but even though it is built on the same 3 nm node, it's not that power efficient like the Snapdragon 8 Elite. I think Samsung may have thought that the Flip smartphone users are not that hard of users. It's just my thought.
The camera system is upgraded from last year, but you can't expect too much from it, considering the less space available for optics. Anyhow, Samsung has packed a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide in the cutouts of the cover display. And there's a 10MP selfie cam on the inside for selfies and video conferencing.
The Z Flip 7 packs a 4300 mAh battery, a 300 mAh upgrade from last year. But other manufacturers have put around 5000 mAh batteries inside flip smartphones right now. Charging speed has no upgrades, just 25W wired and 15W wireless charging speeds. The Z Flip 7 comes with One UI 8 on top of Android 16 with the promise of 7 years of Android updates.
Even though Samsung was a bit late to follow the design trend, it's good to see it come along with the others. Yet still, Samsung has to do more to stand out in the competition.
