The golden star of the Hela movie, Malani Senehelatha Fonseka, died this morning at the age of 78 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo. The millions of fans around the country were heartbroken when she left us after becoming ill for a period.

Her death is a great loss not only to the film industry but to the entire nation. She was a symbol of grace, talent, and strength. She gave life to unforgettable roles and brought smiles, tears, and inspiration to millions for many decades.

She was born on April 30th, 1947, in Kelaniya. She began her acting career in the late 1960s. She became popular quickly due to her natural beauty and strong acting talents. Her first film, 'Punchi Banda," gave her a long and successful journey. From then on, she acted in more than 150 films. Nidanaya, Aksha Kusum, Madol Duwa, Apeksha, and Sudu Kaluwara were among her most famous films. She plays different characters and gives her maximum for all.

She performed in theater and television dramas in addition to films. Her passionate acting leaves a lasting impression on viewers. Through the screen, she touched our hearts and became a part of Sri Lankan culture. Stars like Malani increased the popularity of our film industry.

She represented Sri Lanka internationally and won many awards. She gained respect not only from Sri Lanka but also from Asia. In the year 2010, she became a member of parliament.

Even though she rose to the heights, she was very kind and simple. People loved and respected her not only for her acting but also for her kindness.

Today her gentle body lies in the funeral hall, surrounded by flowers and memories. People around her now may be filled with sad emotions.

Goodbye, dear Malani; truly, you were a gem in our nation. You gave us your best, and you will stay in our hearts forever. Your name will shine in our cinema forever.
