Contest alert- All in one contest W8: Writing expedition contest update, Embracing Health and Nature Together
Nature has been our best teacher and has been reminding us to be balanced, to grow and renew. Not only are the green plant life and its rich palm trees a beautiful sight to view, but it also has a lot to teach families parents and children alike on living a healthier and more meaningful life.
A farm or a garden, when we observe it, one can readily see only the crops. And there is the promise of nourishment and well being contained in every leaf and fruit. Families who engage in gardening, albeit in small levels, tend to find beyond the harvest something new and fresh. They manage to build up connections, de-stress, and make their children aware of the need to take care of the planet. Children that learn the lifecycle of vegetables, i.e. planting a seed to harvesting the mature vegetables, tend to be more willing to consume good food, which will benefit their own development and immunity.
It is also in the natural environment like the palm groves in these images that allow room to play, access to fresh air and exercise in addition to food. When children are free to run, to explore and discover, they find it easy to grow. Outdoor games are not just a source of energy, but they improve motor skills, strengthen the bones and prevent obesity in childhood. A walk in the garden or a walk under the shade of the trees will refresh the mind and calm the parents, who may be under a lot of pressure, after a tiring day, as well.
The weather is also a determinant in family health. Bright days supply us with vitamin D, which is necessary to make bones strong and immune system strong. It is always inconvenient, but rainy days purify the environment and fertilize the soil on which we grow our food. Exposure to children on how to enjoy the rhythms of weather be it drizzle watering the farm or sunshine drying fruits teach them the profound relationship that exists between nature and good health.
However, health is more than the physical. Families that spend their time in the natural world tend to have a healthier emotional and mental stature. The green landscape helps to relax the mind, become creative, and take a break in front of screens and hectic timetables. Such instances can be used by parents outside to chat with their children, hear them out, and bond with them.
Nature and health can never be separated ultimately. Similar to palm trees, families can also rise up and build their strength and endurance when they take into heart the teachings that are all around them as they eat fresh, exercise, enjoy the weather, and rest in the green areas. When this is done, the parents and the children not only develop healthier bodies but also manage to have happier hearts.
