"Pictures tell a thousand stories-Wk22"
GREETINGS 👋 EVERYONE I WELCOME YOU ALL TO MY BLOG |
---|
They say that a picture speaks a thousand words, and I think that this picture has not only a story but a part of my life, my happiness and even a fragment of my childhood memories. At first glance, you can just view it as a simple picture of a young man who is smiling in the sunny sky but to me it is much more than that.
The thing is that there was no special occasion which accompanied this picture. It was not my birthday and neither was it a celebration or some great occasion. It was merely a sunny and a happy day, a day when the air is lighter and the sun is shining on the right. I remember that I woke up with the sense of thankfulness that the world in general was smiling at me. I decided to capture an image of that joy this time not in words but in a picture.
Yes, it is shot by a professional photographer. The pose and the idea was mine, however. It brought about my childhood memories whereby I used to play around with the cameras and request anyone who had one to capture me. I at the time loved going outside and telling the person to make sure the sky shows. To me the sky was a canvas vast and free and without end. So to this day I said to the photographer, Bend down and take me out. Give the sky the backdrop. Not merely about looking good, but about getting a feeling, a fragment of who I am.
The image exudes something earthy but strong: freedom, peace and joy. The sun at one corner, and the calmness of the sky and my gentle smile would all help me to form a mood that could be difficult to express by words. But, as you can hear, the tale talks through the frame.
It narrates of the boy who grew up admiring the art of taking moments and never ceased to believe that photos could freeze the emotions in time. It describes the man that he had become, who is happy about the most basic of things, the beautiful day, the wide sky and a camera in his direction.
So no, this image may not be impressive at first but to me it is impressive. It is full of laughter, memory, creativity and freedom. Not only a snapshot, but a tale that needs to be read that there are times, the most remarkable images are created out of the most commonplace of events.
