ABOUT THE FRUIT AND PLANT

Guava, which is botanically called Psidium guajava is a small, tropical tree or shrub native to Central and South America but found in other parts of the world today. Its fruit, also called guava is rich in nutrient , sweet and crunchy as well.

Growth

Climate:Guava trees prefer tropical and subtropical regions. Asides that, it my be difficult to grow a guava plant elsewhere.

Soil type and pH: Well-draining soil with a pH range of 5-7 is suitable for a normal and proper growth.

Care: Every thing cherished requires proper care. So, egular watering, pruning, and fertilization will yield good growth flowering, fruiting and harvest .

Growth Cycle

Germination: 1-3 weeks - Guava seeds sprout into seedlings.

Seedling stage:1-2 years - Young trees develop leaves and roots.

Sapling stage: 2-5 years - Trees grow taller and stronger.

Maturation—3-5 years - Trees reach maturity and start producing flowers.

Fruiting —Flowers develop into fruit after pollination.

Fruit growth—3-6 months - Guavas grow and mature.

Ripening—3-7 days - Guavas ripen and become ready to eat.

Total Timeframe

From seed: 5-7 years - Guava trees grown from seed can take several years to produce fruit.

From grafting: 2-4 years - Grafted guava trees can produce fruit faster.

Guava is a nice and delicious fruit you won't want to avoid.
You can choose to grow them in your yard and have them trees all for yourself . But just as you love eating the fruit, take precautions as to protect your health. Ensure to rather remove the seeds or chew properly before swallowing.
