Clean-up Activities on Friday Full of Blessings

Friday mornings always feel different, full of blessings and a sense of community. In my village, Gampong Blang, the atmosphere this morning was even more lively with a community service activity by the village youth. The purpose of this community service was to clean the soccer field, a place that often serves as a center of community activity for both sports and other social events.

Since morning, the youths had gathered, each carrying their own equipment. Some brought machetes, hoes, and even lawn mowers. The soccer field, previously overgrown with weeds, was clearly in need of maintenance, so this community service project was the perfect way to revitalize the field and make it usable.

The weather this morning wasn't entirely favorable. A light drizzle had fallen since early morning, making the air feel cool but also a little slippery around the field. Despite this, the youths' enthusiasm didn't dampen in the slightest. With full unity, they continued their work, working together to cut the grass, clear the muddy ground, and tidy up the surrounding area.

What was captivating about this gotong royong (mutual cooperation) was the strong sense of togetherness. As they worked, the youths joked, laughed, and encouraged one another. Despite being drenched in the drizzle, no one complained or felt burdened. Instead, the atmosphere warmed with laughter, which added to their enthusiasm.

The results of this hard work began to show as midday approached. The soccer field, previously overgrown with weeds, now looked neat and tidy. A lawnmower successfully mowed the center of the field, while the sides were manually handled by young people using simple tools. The entire field was finally ready to be used again for village sports activities.

This mutual cooperation activity was not only about cleaning the field but also served as a means of fostering camaraderie and fostering a love for the village. The spirit of togetherness displayed by the youth on this blessed Friday morning reflected the value of mutual cooperation, a long-standing tradition in our villages.

With activities like this, I'm increasingly convinced that unity and togetherness are the main strengths in village development. Even when it rains and the weather isn't favorable, the spirit of togetherness can overcome all obstacles.
