my small family business

Every family has its own way of working and earning a living. For my small family, a simple step we've taken is opening a small business selling various fried foods and a traditional Acehnese hot drink, bandrek bumbu (spice drink). Although this venture is relatively small, it brings a special joy because it's run with my beloved wife, and even our little daughter encourages us every time we sell.

In a simple stall attached to someone else's stall, we display our homemade fried food from scratch. On it, we serve a variety of warm fritters, from fried bananas, fried tofu, fried tempeh, to crispy bakwan (vegetable fritters). We sell them at a very affordable price, just Rp. 1,000 per piece. This price is deliberately set so that local residents can enjoy them without having to dig too deep into their pockets.

Besides fried foods, another main attraction on the menu is Aceh's signature bandrek. This drink is rich in spices, providing a warming sensation in the throat, and is perfect for afternoon or evening drinks. We offer two variations: original bandrek for Rp. 3,000 per glass and milk bandrek for Rp. 5,000 per glass. The warmth of my wife's bandrek is consistently appreciated by customers, as it's both healthy and authentic and delicious.

To illustrate the value in the digital world, it's equivalent to Steem, Rp. 1,000/0.46 Steem, original bandrek Rp. 3,000/1.38 Steem, and milk bandrek Rp. 5,000/2.29 Steem.

This simple calculation shows that even small businesses like fried food and bandrek can be linked to a modern digital ecosystem like Steem. This isn't just about the numbers, but also a way to reassess the importance of small businesses in everyday life.

Although our business is still very simple and requires little capital, there's a special sense of pride in serving customers with a smile. Every time someone buys fried food or bandrek, there's a joy that's hard to describe, especially when we see them enjoying their food with such satisfaction. These are the little things that motivate us to keep selling.

More than just a profit-making venture, this small business also provides a platform for family togetherness. I help prepare the equipment, while my wife is busy frying and mixing the bandrek, while our little daughter provides encouragement with her chatter and sweet smile. All of this makes this small business full of meaning.

I hope that in the future, this simple business will continue to grow, become known to more people, and become a source of blessed, halal income for our small family.
