🌸 A Sweet Family Day – Making Traditional Nokshi Pitha at Home

in Beauty of Creativity6 days ago

Hello dear Steemians,

How are you all? I hope everyone is doing well. Alhamdulillah, I am also fine. Today was a very special day for me and my family because we all gathered together to make a traditional Bangladeshi sweet called Nokshi Pitha (Floral Design Pitha).

This pitha is very popular in our culture, especially during winter and festivals. What makes it unique is the beautiful designs on top that look like flowers, leaves, or other patterns. Making Nokshi Pitha is not just cooking – it’s also an art.

👩‍🍳 Our Family Experience

In the morning, everyone sat together, and we started preparing the dough. After that, we shaped the pithas into small rounds and used knives and sticks to create lovely designs. It was so much fun because each family member made different patterns. Some looked like flowers, some like stars, and some like leaves.

After designing, we fried the pithas in hot oil until golden brown. Finally, we dipped them into thick sugar syrup (or jaggery syrup). The crispy outside and the sweet taste inside made them simply delicious.

📜 Recipe for Nokshi Pitha

  1. Wheat flour or all-purpose flour – 2 cups
  2. Water – as needed (for dough)
  3. Salt – a pinch
  4. Oil – for frying
  5. Sugar – 1 ½ cups (for syrup)
  6. Water – 1 cup (for syrup)
  7. Cardamom – 2-3 pieces (for syrup flavor)

Steps to make:

  1. Make a soft dough with flour, water, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Divide into small balls and flatten them slightly.
  3. Use a knife or stick to make floral or leaf designs on top.
  4. Heat oil and deep fry until golden brown.
  5. Prepare sugar syrup by boiling sugar, water, and cardamom together.
  6. Dip the fried pithas into the syrup for a few minutes, then take them out.

And that’s it! Delicious, beautiful Nokshi Pitha is ready to enjoy.

🌼 Final Thoughts

Today’s experience was not just about food, it was about family bonding. Sitting together, laughing, making designs, and finally tasting the sweet pithas made the day truly memorable. Traditions like this remind us how beautiful and rich our culture really is.

Thank you Everyone
