What to say? Is heartbreaking, disgraceful or typical for those at the top expecting the best of the best? I would have been happy with such a healthy present. It is the idea that counts (though I like practical gifts, not cluttering) and if no present it's fine too. How many are still willing to pay a visit to a sick (elderly) person?
He can't have been that sick if he was still able to make such a remark was it a trick?

You're right, when you're truly feeling unwell, there's no time for mocking others, I know that from personal experience. Also, I remembered that besides the buckwheat, I brought him some canned food, sardines or herring in tomato (I don't remember the details exactly).
No, I didn’t take the package back. If he later fed it to the dogs... well, I guess I did a small good deed for the dogs. Fate has always been kind to me and sent good people my way, people who did much more for me, so at least I have to try to emulate them.
As I read this yesterday I thought it over and you know what I believe? If he had been fit he would have thrown it out and as soon as you had left he would have taken it back.
He didn't feed it to his dogs he ate it and enjoyed it.
I hope he takes better care of his dogs.
