Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 105: 🌿Healthy Habit 🌿

Healthy habits are just the seeds we plant in the farm, it often look small at first, but with time, they'll germinate and eventually grow into those powerful trees that shape our well-being perfectly. For me, one among many habits which has really stood out and transformed my life in ways I never expected it.

What is one healthy habit you practice regularly?

The very habit I practice almost consistently is early morning walking. Each day, before I encounter the rush of life begins, I take some minutes walk around my neighborhood, either fetching water or just around my frontage.

When and why did you start this habit?

I started this very habit during my second year in the university when I realized I was always tired, even when not engaged in heavy duty I'm feeling stressed and struggling with concentration. A doctor’s simple advice was: “move your body, and your mind will thank you definitely”. This really pushed me to give morning walks a try or sometimes going to the field to train with footballers.

How has it improved your physical, mental, or emotional health?

I'll take my Physicality for instance, my stamina has really improved well and also I rarely feel fatigued anymore but firm. Mentally, those quiet walks which seems meaningless clear my head, giving me the very space to reflect and plan my day. Emotionally, it has really become my moment of peace, a way to help calm anxieties before facing my daily pressures.

What challenges did you face while trying to keep up with it?

The challenges I called the biggest during this routine was consistency. At first, waking up so early was the biggest punishment anyone can beg me to do. I was a person that loves sleeping late and waking up late. On rainy days or after late nights, I almost gave up on this. But I reminded myself that our habits aren’t built on comfort, they are mostly built on discipline. Gradually, it became easier for me.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start this habit too?

I'll gladly say start small, don’t aim for the long distances immediately. Even 10 minutes daily is something and can make a difference. Choose a good time that looks perfect for the work out and stay faithful to it. Most importantly, I'll add that we see it not as an obligation but as a gift to ourselves.

Conclusion

The Healthy habits don’t just improve our bodies out of a sudden, it's gradually and they reshape our lifestyles. My morning walk has really taught me that as humans, wellness isn’t complicated, it is simply choosing to do those right little things, every day.
