STOPPING WATER MAKER LEAKAGE

Hi Guys, Today We embarked on stopping leakage on the water Maker System. Like we all know, Salt and Iron are core enemies. Water Maker uses the process of Reverse Osmosis to produce portable water for consumption onboard. And the Watermaker takes its Suction from the sea which passes through filters of about 3 Stages before it reaches the membrane. The suction is aided by Booster pump from prefilter which happens to be the very first filter to filter the water from sediments.
Then we also have High pressure pump Which takes Suction from the 5 micron filter before passing it to Membrane. And Then we have Portable Water Through reverse Osmosis. We Actually really want to talk about the Leakage but also to give an education about the Principle of operation of Water Maker. It is Worthy of note that ships are about 99% made up of Iron, steel, Aluminum and other metals. Salt does not go well with iron which Makes up the highest percentage of a ship. Hence its very Important that we endeavor to stop all forms of Leakages so to Save the Vessel and keep it alive.

THE OPERATION

First of all we had to stop the water maker and not necessarily Isolate from power since it wasn't power related our aim for the day. All Valves neccessary were Closed and we went ahead to open the back Pressure Valve using spanner. This Valve regulates the pressure of the High pressure pump. On opening, it was found out that the seal inside was broken hence giving excess water to be dropping Continously. When we saw the issue, it was very easy to Carry out the job.
After we had to change the prefilter before we started it again.
Do we'll to watch the video perhaps you could learn few things.
