SLC-S25/W4-Movie Snapshots|Time Travel and twist: Somewhere in Time

The actual knowledge based on experience of past and future can be more illusory than you think! What you are, where you are, in what condition, and how you are only that is the truth, because in reality the vision of worldly physicists cannot see in subtle dimensions!

If we consider doing plus or minus in inanimate objects or finding scientific values, then it is not absolutely okay. I saw it much later in 1999 but this movie is sitting pretty on my mind.

If you look at things on the basis of physicists, then movies made on such themes as time travel of the past and future will become just an illusion, but I believe that it is not impossible for a soul to travel anywhere! After all, we did not know anything about TV and the internet 50-60 years ago, so who knows what is hidden in the future?

Movie : Somewhere in Time

Director : Jeannot Szwarc

Writer : Richard Matheson

Watch on IMBd

I think we must accept it as an interesting movie and not deal with disbelief because the theme of this movie is based on TWISTS.

He just needed to sit still and wait for a playwright named Richard Collier to come along. This film is a story about a playwright who falls in love with an actress from the past by watching her picture. Their love is beyond time, and that is the twist in this movie, "Back and Forth."

So if you can put your doubts and logic aside and enjoy one hour and forty-five minutes with Alice and Richard in this movie, then watch this video first and then watch "Somewhere in Time".

Don't you think we need to break away from the hectic world around us and have more romance, more spectacular visuals, and beautiful music, even if we have to watch the unbelievable twists? I felt the same when I watched it because the movie "Somewhere in Time" has all of that that you and I want to see in a movie with back-and-forth twists.

So my movie is Somewhere in Time, which left no stone unturned in shocking me at every step and taking me back and forth in time. I think such movies are nothing less than a hidden treasure.

Somewhere in Time, at the beginning, an elderly Alice McKenna finds a young Richard Collier and gives him a pocket watch and says, "Come back to me!"

Because without the handing over of the pocket watch scene, Richard wouldn't be able to recognize Alice in an old photo album, and he wouldn't have the mental power to travel through time, and then the movie wouldn't be there.

You might ask at this point, "How did she find him in the future?" But that's the twist of the story: she finds him 68 years later, and everything goes on normally. She experienced a sense of deja vu, as if it were a first-time occurrence.

But the heroin did not figure out that the man she's fallen in love with is actually from 68 years from the future, and that probably made all the emotional difference on movie goers.

Amazing, isn't it?

I could have chosen a sci-fi with time travel but I preferred a romantic one. In this movie there is a difference of decades between them, and the hero never said a word about being a time traveler. and to top it all the movie doesn't go in one direction past or future but it moves back and forth.

My first thought was the 1979 penny because if Richard had dropped it back in 1912, it would all make sense. But he didn't. In fact, screenwriter Richard Matheson and director Jeannot Swark put a lot of emphasis on showing Richard dropping it on the floor after he returns to 1980. Whew, 68 years! but, no, he didn't because he had something else on his mind.

In a very, very short scene, Richard and Alice are on a boat in 1912, and he starts humming her favorite song.

She comments on how lovely it is and asks, "What is it?"

He says, "Rachmaninoff, Rhapsody" Let me tell you at this point in time that it was not even created at that time.

But she says, "I love Rachmaninoff, but I have never heard that piece."

He smiles and says. "I'll introduce you to it someday."

And that's it. End of scene. That's all there is to the film's very subtle explanation of how Alice later found Richard.

You see, as we all know, Sergei Rachmaninoff hadn't even composed the "Rhapsody" on the theme of Paganini until 1934. So, when Ellis finally heard it, she still recognized it and realized there was only one way Richard could have known about the same song 22 years earlier because he knew where he could find it, in the future.

So that's the main twist on "Somewhere in Time."

The theme, "Someday you will find her," and he finds her in a distant future.

Actually, this movie uses time travel as a plot device to bring these two characters together. While some people find the time travel aspect interesting, others might find it a bit odd, but I chose this movie because that is the topic of your contest, back and forth in time.
