Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 106: If I were to be a Billionaire
You've really made me daydream! If I were a billionaire, as you suggested, the first thing I would do is I would spend time with underprivileged children, feeding them, playing with them, and enjoying life with them. It would truly be so much fun!
But let me tell you as you asked:
If you were a billionaire or eventually become a billionaire someday, list the things you would have done or loved to do. Tell us reasons why you'd like to do them.
If I were a billionaire, what would I do?
I am trying to recreate what could be the scenario if I happened to be one!
Sir, you have a meeting with so-and-so from 10:00 to 10:15. This is the agenda, and this is the potential benefit or drawback.
From 10:30 to 11:00, you have a meeting about that project, and from 11:00 to 12:00, you're meeting with the European delegation.
Then there's the board meeting this afternoon. The notes for your speech are ready; you can review them when you have time.
I can't even imagine this scenario
My personal assistant sounds like a vegetable vendor. My main personal assistant, who rattles on like a living ghost all day, having gathered input from a team of 50 people, would probably turn me into a ghost too. That clever, cunning guy would sell my time to people, from my 19th-floor office to the ground floor.
Do you think being a billionaire can solve all your problems? Give your reason.
I am not sure but let's talk about my real life that I faced during my corporate job, Koushik, my personal assistant, brought me the daily agenda every morning. Then, I spend my day meeting people and attending meetings, exactly as he dictated.

If I even think of making any changes on my own, I have to give a reason. Yes, we have all the luxuries and servants, but we don't have time to enjoy them.
Are there some challenges associated with being a billionaire? Enumerate them
One of my childhood friends always said he often had no cash in his wallet because his servants bought everything he needed. It's very difficult for me because I really enjoy going down to the street stall, having tea, and talking to young people.
See, money doesn't care who owns it. Money only cares about who has influence and control over it.
Every luxury that money can buy is at their fingertips.
But what I didn't have was my own time.
And then there's me. I'm not a billionaire but only a millionaire. Yes, I earn 40-50k a year so I can decide about my car, vacation, hotel, money, and places of stay as per my needs. I have enough means to stay in the same hotels as moneyed people stay. They stay there with their hard-earned money, and I enjoyed my stays because my company contributed to my expenses.
Now, I have the freedom to choose my time, people, and place. I don't think most billionaires have any of that freedom. I go on vacation on my own terms. They go on vacation to show off.
These people influence the lives of others. With the talent they have, they improve the lives of many but they themselves are slaves of time. They have influence, power, intelligence, and the ability to change the world. But I have no such desire, not at the age that I am right now.
These people rise above their own self-interest and improve the lives of many. When I die, there will just be a 13-day mourning period. When they die, there will be memorial services. But then money doesn't just bring luxury but it also brings responsibility. Becoming a billionaire isn't a joke. Becoming a billionaire means fulfilling responsibilities.
Being a billionaire doesn't mean having a private jet, a big mansion, and living a life of luxury. A billionaire is someone who provides resources for their people, improves their lives, and ensures a good future for them. All of this comes at the cost of their own freedom, time, and personal desires. I have no such desire, not anymore.
I took this picture this morning especially for this post while riding my bike
Now, the answer to your question :
If I were a billionaire, I would only be managing my time. I would have plenty of money, but I would be constantly trying to make the most of my time.
Now tell me! Do you want to be a billionaire?
I can only say that if I were a billionaire, I would open factories all over the country where orphaned children beg on the streets or are engaged in dangerous child labor work. This way, these children wouldn't have to do those dangerous jobs, and their education would be taken care of, so they could develop skills and earn money according to their work. This would prevent them from developing a dependence on handouts and help them become self-reliant.
Who knows?

I would rather play with kids. Spending time with those little children would truly make me feel like a real billionaire.
I am moneyed enough and own various assets but after seeing your question, I realized that I had never even thought about what I would do if I were a billionaire!
But some billionaires remain so focused on work because they understand that the outside world is very deceptive, always waiting for them to fall from their position of wealth and power. So they keep their focus on their work. In a way, it's a kind of detached, even ascetic, personality.
List at least 3-5 billionaires you know and what you admire about them.
For instance, the ones I know are Sunil Bharti Mittal, the chief of Airtel, he was my boss at one of my previous companies. That moment is one of the unforgettable moments of my life. Now he is one of the richest men, with more than 100000 employees and many more associated indirectly.
And Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, the richest Asian and listed among the richest in the world.
Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani (born 19 April 1957) is an Indian billionaire businessman, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries.[4] As of May 2025, he is the richest person in Asia and the 13th richest in the world, with a net worth of US$108 billion.
These people aren't only billionaires, but they are responsible for managing billions of dollars responsibly. They have tremendous pressure to spend that money in the right place and get results. Yes, they have the potential to become richer in no time if they so choose.
I have another friend. He owns three big malls open seven days a week, 12 hours a day. He's absolutely a billionaire. But he lives in a village. He owns two cars. He gets to travel for seven days a year. Just seven days a year.
Is being rich or millionaire against your belief as an individual? Explain
There is nothing wrong being rich but being filthy rich would truly be a very complicated life. I think our desire for anything remains strong until we actually achieve it.
My friends have fancy luxury cars. even I have access to two, one Tesla and the other a BMW 7 series. A big house worth well over one million and other investment properties. I used to be GM of marketing; people used to bow down, and they were eager or forced to obey my command.
There are two possible scenarios if I were a billionaire:
-I am a billionaire, so I have nothing to do. Because all the work would be done by my servants.
-Now, an idle mind is the devil's workshop! Secondly, if I were a billionaire, I would be constantly busy with work.
In such a situation, I wouldn't even have time to breathe. I would be so preoccupied with protecting what I have and earning even more. You could call such a personality greedy and selfish.
In response to @bossj23 and I invite @solaymann @inspiracion @eveetim and @senehasa
Fifthy rich is definitely a complicated lifestyle because you spend all your time acquire more. Sometimes I do wonder if the wealthy at some point gets tired of their riches. Or does the saying Too much of Everything doesn't apply to them. I love your kind of lifestyle and the level of financial independence you have reached. Can I ask? What if you were born into a family that is filthy rich and the lifestyle they attain is complex? Living with principles, dignity and self-esteem? Would you have found your own life?

I could have earned a lot more than I did but I think I wanted to give time to my family so I refrained. As far taking birth in a filthy rich family, even my father didn't believe in that so he refused to be a minister in a monarchy to live a normal life. Have a great time!
Thank you very much for the response
You have carefully explained who a billionaire is and what he actually does. One of it is that they have no time for themselves. I enjoy reading your post because you use literally expressions that got me imagine a billionaire lifestyle which I never thought about when I wrote the contest.
I'm excited that you've lived your life peacefully, having time to interact with people around you and not sinking into series of meetings in order to meet up with your schedule.
Another thing is, some persons don't really think about the effort these billionaires put up to build empires people see, all they think about is the money they have. No thought about some discomfort they have, they think about the wealth they enjoy.
In all of it, I have understood that being a billionaire can solve a lot of problems at a time, but it can also be a challenge in some aspects. It's never a crime to be rich except it is wealth gotten from dubious means.
Thank you for taking part in the contest and also inviting me. Here's sending you best wishes.

Thanks for responding so beautifully! I am not saying being rich is crime, not at all but let me tell you earning big money is not so easy or keeping it that way is even more difficult. Best regards.
