Oya turn the bike handle! No, not that way, this way! Guy don't look down look front”— The Bicycle Troubles Begins.

However,I can still remember one calm quiet evening like that,in our locality.I was walking past a nearby compound when I saw a group of children gathered around one bicycle. Some were riding, some were cheering the rider, and the boy riding was happy and shouted, “I can do it! Surely I can finally ride bicycle” just before he rode the bicycle straight into the nearby bush.

Another boy probably, also trying it for the first time, was wobbling and shaking like a broilers chicken on a slippery floor. Her slippers flew off, her braids bounced wildly, and her older brother kept yelling, “Use your brake! Favour use Brake, na you go fall ooo!” But she didn’t even know where the brake was and she fail and have bruises on her leg. Then came their argument:

“Bicycle is easier to learn!”
“No! Driving a car is better!”
“You don’t even have a license!”
“At least I’ve sat in the front seat beforevand watch my dad drive!”

I paused. This wasn’t just normal noise—it was a real debate. And it made me think very deeply:Bicycle!?, or Car!?,Which one is really and truly easier to easily learn,is it learning to ride a bicycle or driving a car?

🚲 Do I @emishael60 Know How to Ride a Bicycle or Drive a Car?

Yes, I do! I’ve had my first learning experience with a little scraped knees and sweaty palms behind the wheel. Both skills came with their own real dramas, funny laughter, and small regrets 😀.

📖 My funny Bicycle And car Story

How I learned to Ride a Bicycle

However ,I was about 10 years old of age when I first tried riding a bicycle. It was my cousin’s old bicycle. It was blue in colour, rusty, and slightly too big for me to ride. The seat had a small tear, the bell didn’t work at all, but to me, it was the coolest thing ever, which I have experience.

My cousin stood behind me, holding the back of the seat. “Just keep pedaling,” he said. I did. After a few seconds of trying ,I was really feeling like I was surely flying in the sky. Then he let go of the bicycle. That was the moment I felt very scared and afraid.

The bike shake and turn left and right, then straight into a big pile of sand. However,I fell down and scraped my right hand elbow and my knees, and I cried. Well in the other way, I was proud. No doubt, that was really the first time I have ever rode a bicycle on my own. After that, I practiced it every evening to master it. I rode all around the compound, dodging buckets and rubbers in the compound, chickens, and my little sister on my back who kept chasing me with a stick.

Soon, I could ride with no hands (lol😆 for only just five seconds), race with my friends, and even carry small items on the back of the bicycle. It became my first taste and enjoyment of freedom.

🚗 How I was Learning to Drive a Car

Driving came much later when I was 18.My dad decided it was time to teach me how to drive a car. He took me to an open field at a primary school near our house which there wasn't any traffic, no pressure just me,my dad, and the car.

“Start the engine,” he said. I did. The car engine start steaming, and I hold the steering tight. I felt like I was holding something very heavy and powerful on my hands. Truth to be told,my two hands were full of sweat, and my heart was already beating fast and high.

We started with the common things in a car, like how to use the mirrors, change gears, press the brake gently etc. While doing all this things I kept asking my dad, “What if I hit something?” He laughed and said, “There’s nothing to hit here except the grasses all around here.”

I learned it for weeks and it was time to enter the main road and drive. The first time I drove on the main road in our side, I was sweating like someone who's trying to escape from the battlefield 😆. However ,I kept checking the mirrors from time to time, gripping the steering wheel like my life depends on it. But with time, I got much better and mastered driving. Without any doubt,as at now I can drive confidently, and even in traffic, though I still avoid a reverse parking when people are watching me, because still learning 😆.

🤔 Which One Is Easier to Learn?

However here in my own simple terms:

FeatureBicycleCar
Age to Start drivingAs early as 4–6 yearsUsually 18+
ComplexityJust balance and pedalMirrors, signals, gears, traffic rules
Risk LevelScraped kneesReal accidents
CostCheap and cheerfulExpensive and licensed
Freedom LevelFirst taste of independenceFull-blown adulting

💡 My Opinion

Riding a bicycle is easier to learn. Here’s why:

  • Simple to understand: You just need to balance, pedal, and steer. No engine, no mirrors, no traffic rules.
  • Less risk: If you fall, you might get a small injury. But with a car, one mistake can be very serious.
  • Younger age: Most children start learning bicycles early. Surely, driving is only for adults, and it comes with more responsibility.
  • Cheaper and free to practice: You don’t need fuel, license, or money to ride a bicycle around your compound.

Driving is like secondary method, it is very useful and important, but it takes more time, more care, seriousnes and more learning. It’s not just about someone moving from one place to another, but—it’s about doing it safely and registering it legally.

🎯 My summary

So when I saw those kids arguing, I smiled. They were just discovering the joy of movement—whether it’s two wheels or four.

A bicycle gives you your first taste of freedom.
A car teaches you how to handle responsibility.

However, riding and driving are part of growing up. But if you ask me which one is easier to learn, from my experience I’ll surely say:Start with the bicycle. It’s where the sweet and enjoyable fun begins before driving a car.
