Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 104: Debate: Riding a bicycle or driving a car
Do you know how to ride bicycle or a car?
Yes honestly I know how to ride a bicycle and also a car. The first time I knew how to ride a bicycle was when I was a kid and seriously it made me feel stable, free, and self-assured. I also know now how to drive a car and that needs some attention, responsibility and good knowledge of road rules as well.
A bicycle helps me to keep on the move and to be in touch with the simple things and a car helps me to get where I want to go with minimum time wastage. I have to say that I feel at ease working with both. Be it when I am riding on a bicycle and admiring nature, or be it when I am exercising or driving somewhere I really need to go, I have learned how to ride the bicycle and the car, without any trouble.
Share the story of how you learnt to ride a bicycle or drive a car or both. ?
I have been taught how to ride a bicycle as a child. My friends already had bicycles and I did not want to be left behind, so I picked up the interest. It was not that easy at first and I fell down a couple of times but with practice and watching my friends I soon learned how to do it and I could ride with confidence. Riding a bicycle was one of the greatest childhood experiences.
In my case with driving a car, I only learned how to do it this year, 2025. I had always wanted to drive, and I kept on putting off, until I had some money and enrolled at a driving school. I spent three months in training there where I learned all the steps. Today, I can proudly say that I am a perfect driver who is not afraid.
Tell us your opinion on which is more easier to learn, riding a bicycle or driving a car? Support with reasons.
I think that it is not too difficult to ride a bicycle compared to driving a car. This is primarily due to the fact that a bicycle is less technical and simple. Balance, peddling and steering is all you will need and can be taught with practice, even at a young age. It does not need any complex controls, rules, and licenses. Car driving is more complicated on the other hand.
It is the ability to learn how to operate the steering, pedals, gears and follow road signs, traffic regulations and safety laws. Driving is more responsible and associated with more focus as it is a situation that is more risky and involves other people on the road. Thus, the two skills, though both necessary, I feel that it is easier and faster to learn how to ride on a bicycle than it is to learn how to drive a car.
