Let me provide an example of misinformation and ignorance. During the Lassa fever outbreak, I was still living in the village. The disease was caused by rats, and often, people left their food unattended, especially fried garri. When these rodents tampered with the food, it became contaminated, leading to illness. At that time, some people stopped consuming garri altogether, but that wasn’t even the biggest issue. What really affected me was when people began using salt to bathe, believing it would protect them. Tragically, someone died as a result of this misinformation.
The same issue occurs online. There is often a lot of misinformation on social media. The stories may differ, but when you dig deeper, you’ll find that many are just trying to gain attention. That’s why it’s important not to believe everything you see online; always verify information before sharing it.
This is my contribution to your post. I wish you the best!
