A Well Organized Youth Day Celebration In Assemblies Of God, Nigeria

We are trying to live our lives as guided by the scripture; even though perilous times seem to arise, we move on, putting a smile on our faces and behaving as if nothing happened. That's resilience, if I may say so. These weeks have been full of different engagements, ranging from trying to attend rehearsals to practising for the UYO EAST-DISTRICT youth day.

Last week Sunday this day was announced for the last time, and as the Assemblies of God's pattern of making a day like this a success, a week is always given for intensive rehearsals, and a Sunday that starts up the new week is the D-day. I thank God for a beautiful day like this, a whirlwind of spiritual energy, youthful exuberance and display of talented youth.

This day kicked off with the usual and impactful early morning hours Bible study. I came in some minutes late, and I was buzzing with anticipation of what this day would look like, seated on the veranda and listening to the preacher's words. Approaching were youth, dressed in their different styles of costumes tailored by their catalogue desires; some didn't sew but tied them as wrappers. I sewed mine not because I wouldn't have gone traditional,but I just had to follow my desires as well.

We have been blacked out for some days now in this vicinity. Unfortunately our diesel got finished after Sunday school. I thank God it was later refilled, but it almost spoilt the morning vibes because we marched in without a matching in song and the instrumentals. As we began to say our directives and motto, the power unit successfully put things in place and the bulbs lit up.

Most items on the list were short-sleeved because of time, and also this whole Sunday was supposed to be spent in church because after now we will be moving to the congregational mega service, where members from every section in this district should be there not just to give an account but to appreciate God for a successful youth day celebration.

	The Photographer

Lest I forget, our theme for this year is CAPACITY INCREASE. Subsequently, this has become my personal year caption with a bit of divergence to personal growth in all ramifications. We were urged by the youth president who spoke to us to increase in all ramifications, both in our work with God and finances. The major caption was on a holy upgrade. The Christian youth were advised not to be influenced by the worldly pattern of doing things, conduct, character and the like.

Subsequently, I took up the role of a photographer; this has made me gain popularity among my brethren, and I am glad to serve humanity with this hobby. Words may not be able to completely describe how my day went, so I leave with you a short clip of less than 2 mins into the praise and dance session.
