MY NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH #114 - REPORTING EVENTS AROUND US
Fellow steemian, it was a great opportunity working on a building construction site for the first time in my life. The lesson I learnt was so enormous that I could not keep it to myself.
I heard it over the radio three months ago that the Ibom Hotel, which was constructed by the immediate past administration, would be completed by the present administration, so I thought it was just politics as usual, not knowing that the project had already kicked off.
As I was strolling last two months in my environment, I was so tired, so I decided to buy a sachet of pure water in a nearby shop, where I overheard people talking about the New Ibom Hotel construction site. So I drew near and asked them more about the construction site, lo and behold, I was talking with the project manager who was contracted to pack space in Ibom Hotel. After exchanging pleasantries with the group of men, I knew I was privileged to meet with the project manager and his team
I quickly ask him, sir, how to get a job there. He said if I were able to spread a stone base, I would quickly answer “yes” because I needed that job by all means
I remember I forgot to ask him how the payment goes, so he then said that it is 7500 daily, my head busted, what? 7500? Immediately, I begin to calculate the payment in a week and in a month, respectively. Because of the good payment I got, I was moved to ask him if I can work overtime for extra money, he said yes, but the money will be released every weekend.
So I went there yesterday to start, my 7500 job
