He who finds a wife finds a good thing, my cousin found his missing rib in Akwaibom state. It's a beautiful thing to see young people marry .

On that beautiful morning I was excited to go see my cousin choose her wife .so I prepared and dressed up in my native attire.
The journey took my husband and I almost two Hours plus from Uyo town to the village, when we got there the elders gathered for the marriage rites .

In Nigeria it's very important to pay for bride price before you can be confirmed husband and wife though some people live together without doing the normal thing.

There are stages before arriving at the main day, there's the first stage of knowing the place in this stage you are free to move round the village and make inquiries, afterward you can decide to go ahead or withdraw according to the outcome of your findings.

The elders

The drinks

It was time to pay the rites and the elders from the wife's side brought out their list and my cousin paid while some things that were not necessary was settled with money.
I noticed little different from Akwaibom state and IMO state as their list comprises both the men, the women, the young women, the children and the youths. While in Igbo land it's separated and the women will be settled differently from the men.

The main thing started where the elder gave my cousin the drink to show them the wife while the wife used the drink to take to her parents for blessings.

My cousin,my husband and I

It was an interesting tradition marriage at their reach as drinks ,food and dance was the last thing .

Something happened after the wedding the youth of the village blocked our way demanding for matching ground settlement.

The youths that blocked our way

I didn't know that this habit of youth blocking the road is everywhere. Because in my village they did same thing to my husband when he came to marry me. One thing about this youth is their seriousness when this matter raise you will see them coming out in their numbers to demand for their right.
After all the ginger from the youth they came to a negotiation where the inlaw's paid 12 thousand Naria to make their way home.

Night view of the road

It was night and we came back to the city successful to the glory of God ,when I called others that came from IMO state they also got home safely.

I freshened up and went in to rest for the day. It was indeed a beautiful day.
