SLC-S25/W1-Movie Snapshots|Around the world The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
I am very happy to participate in this learning challenge because I have also run some contests on this platform to promote the movie well. Like the contest organizer, I would also like to say that after watching this movie, I could sing a Japanese song myself. I liked the song very much. Later, I translated the lyrics of the song into English and learned its meaning, which was written about nature. Thank you very much for hosting this great learning challenge.

Talk about the main idea of the movie
This movie is not just a fairy tale, it carries a deep philosophical message (I believe). At first I considered it as a fairy tale but as the movie time increased my idea gradually changed. This movie shows the extreme greed, ambition, social outlook and the meaning of true freedom of people. Here a 'heavenly' princess is first seen growing up in the mountains as a simple woodcutter's daughter in a natural environment, freely and happily, but after receiving divine money, the princess is brought into high society against her will, wants to educate her, and makes her a 'model woman' who rich men will agree to marry. As a result, she gradually loses her identity and she wants to return to a free life.
"The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" is a movie that brings tears to our eyes as soon as we feel it. It teaches us that human beings' true identity, love, and happiness lie not in society, but in nature, in relationships, and in living their own lives.
Share the characters
Princess Kaguya (Kaguya): The main character. A baby girl who is found in a bamboo forest after cutting a bamboo tree. As a child, she is very lively, growing up with nature, but she grows as fast as a bamboo tree. Gradually, the responsibilities of royal life make her life difficult.
Sanuki no Miyatsuko (Father): A poor woodcutter who wants to raise Kaguya, who was found in a bamboo forest, as a 'princess', but he ignores his own daughter's wishes to make her a princess.
Ona (Mother): A wonderful person as a mother. The love for Kaguya can always be seen in her eyes. However, despite her love, she accepts her husband's decision.
Sutemaru (Sutomaru): Kaguya's childhood friend. From where the "normal" part of Kaguya's life begins, Sutomaru is inseparable. Kaguya's love is Sutomaru.
Heavenly Angels: Those who take Kaguya back in the end.
Describe the plot and setting of the movie.
One day, while cutting bamboo in a bamboo grove, the woodcutter saw a shining bamboo and after cutting it, he saw a little girl who grew out of the bamboo trunk like a bright flower bud. Seeing the little girl, the woodcutter believed that she was a princess sent by heaven. The woodcutter took her and gave her to his wife. He and his wife raised her with great affection, love and care. The little girl spent a wonderful childhood there with her friends and parents. She grew up in a free environment in nature. She became great friends with a boy named Sutemaru. He was Kaguya's selfless love. He just wanted Kaguya to be happy, wherever she was. But her father eventually moved to the city and gave her a royal life. Although Kaguya gradually got used to high society, her heart kept yearning for nature, childhood and freedom.
Various influential princes wanted to marry her, but Kaguya tactfully rejected them all. Finally, the emperor himself showed interest in Kaguya, and Kaguya became tired and devastated. She looks up at the sky and says, "I can't take it anymore."
And just then, angels from heaven come to take Kaguya back. Kaguya departs from the world, with tears in her eyes. Her parents are seen saying goodbye to their daughter with tears in their eyes.
If you were the Director of the movie what would you do differently?
If I were the director, I would have changed those scenes in this movie that made me feel bad. I would have shown some more scenes of Kaguya's childhood mischief, especially going around the forest to collect fruit from trees, catching chickens, and catching fish so that the audience could feel the pain of her change as deeply as she did.
I would have added more scenes on the relationship between Sutomaru and Kaguya, but instead of making the movie emotional with the separation of the two characters, I would have given them some time to love each other separately at the end so that she could enjoy her childhood again before going back.
Another thing, I would have put a voiceover from Kaguya in the last scene—where she would have said, "Life in harmony with nature is peaceful."
I am inviting my friends @max-pro @solymann and @enamul17 to have a look on this challenge.
Thank you so much for participating in this challenge of season 25.
You have chosen an animation movie, although I would have preferred you went for live action movies/ non-animated.
I really loved how you have explained the movie sharing the characters and thoughts of it and how you would change or do somethings differently if you were the director of the movie.
I have a question for you, if you added more childhood scenes of the princess to the movie, won't it increase the length of the movie ? already the movie is 2 hours 17 minutes
Thank you so much for quick response. Highly appreciated. My bad that I select an animation movie. Actually I love animation movie so when I saw this SLC I stsrt writting about this movie.
Oh my friend you did absolutely no wrong using animation. Cheers
