Who is a tailor? For me, a tailor is more than someone who stitches fabric together. They are part artist, part engineer, part therapist, someone who can take your wildest style dreams, a stubborn piece of fabric, and your body’s unique story, and somehow make them all agree. A good tailor will listen to you, measure you, advise you, and then hand you something that feels like it was made not just for your body, but for your soul.

Now, I haven’t always been lucky in this department. I’ve had my fair share of tailor heartbreaks, the kind that make you question all your life choices. If you’ve ever bought fabric, picked a style, and started practising your “red carpet” walk in the mirror, only for your tailor to return something that looks like another planet inspired it… You will understand. There was the tailor who delivered my dress two weeks after the event, and another who turned my “elegant peplum” into something that looked like a tutu in distress.

But then came my sister-in-law. And honestly, I’m convinced she was heaven-sent. She is my current tailor and the only one I trust with my clothes and my kids’ outfits. Her work? Neat, precise, and full of love. She doesn’t just follow instructions; she pays attention to details I didn’t even know mattered. She will adjust a neckline so it frames my face better, or add a little hidden stitch so my dress sits perfectly all day. And when she sews for my toddlers? Those clothes survive crawling, jumping, sliding, and the playground wars, yet they still look brand new after countless washes.

Her workspace tells you everything you need to know about her. Fabrics are neatly arranged, tools in place, and a mannequin standing like a quiet assistant. There’s always the steady hum of her sewing machine, the crisp snip of scissors, and a soft playlist, usually gospel, flowing in the background. Her prices? More than fair. And the value? Worth every naira.

Would I recommend her to fellow Steemians? Absolutely. She delivers exactly what you ask for, when you need it, without those dreaded “you won’t believe what happened” excuses. She’s proof that good tailors still exist, ones who respect both the fabric and the client.

At the end of the day, my tailor isn’t just someone who sews my clothes. She’s part of the reason I walk into rooms feeling confident. She’s part of the memories my kids make in their little matching outfits. She’s family in every sense of the word. And in a world full of disappointing tailors, finding one who understands both your measurements and your life… that’s the perfect fit. ✂️💛
