RE: "SLC-S25/W3-Instantáneas de películas | Joyas ocultas "

A question for you - unrelated to this post but related to the Learning Challenge...

I thought that I'd check your community (Steem4Nigeria) to see if there were any high-effort comments, assuming that a learning challenge would attract people wanting to make an impression. But there are none - literally none (aside from the templated reviews). (Presumably what comments there are, are too short to get picked up by me.)

So I was wondering, do comments form any part of the challenge any more? I know it's not called the "Engagement Challenge" now, but I rather hoped that people might still see an opportunity to comment.

Any thoughts?

Thank you for your observations..

I understand that there should be an element of engagement because the name is still Steemit challenge, but the emphasis has shifted from comment being part of the major focus, because it was no longer a part of the rules brought up from the steemit team. This is the reason why I am not paying much attention to comments, I also guess that's the same reason why many users reduced or stopped commenting. However, I will begin to put it into consideration by making sure it will be part of the rules. I appreciate your concern. This will add lustre to the challenge, after all, it is like a movie review.

Thanks for replying. I was just a bit surprised - I've seen lots of posts (it's a topic that everybody can be passionate about after all!) and so many of the movies should prompt comments / opinions. It would be a shame if we saw lots of forced comments again - just to "get a higher rating".

I've visited the community with the expectation that I'd find conversations and comments that I could vote on. Unfortunately, there was only 1 comment that fitted this - from a Venezuelan user.

I've been wondering this week what "hidden gems" of cinema mean to users.

Beyond how subjective it may be for each person, the truth is that there are technical and semantic parameters in cinematic language that determine whether a film is a hidden gem.

I prefer not to express opinions because users get offended. That's why I rarely comment.

It'll certainly be interesting to see what people come up with. In the UK, a movie like "3 Idiots" would likely be a "hidden gem" (despite it being in the IMDB Top 100) but any follower of Bollywood would consider it to be a blockbuster.

With the comments, I'm not entirely sure what I expected to find. I only chose this SLC because it's a topic that I could probably reply to every post about - I suppose I expected to find discussion and debate about specific actors. scenes or experiences of where people saw each movie and who with. It's a topic that everybody can have an opinion on without getting too controversial.

The topic of film appreciation is fascinating to me. However, even though I've seen many films from all over the world, I haven't seen everything. The seventh art is 130 years old.

How is it possible that someone considers a summer movie a cinematic gem? How is it possible that no one mentioned a film by Polanski, or Italian neorealism, or the new Danish, Chinese, Iranian, Japanese, etc. cinema.

Here, people write for the sake of writing, and few have written about good cinema. Film culture is scarce, and users are few and humble.

There was little respect and a great lack of knowledge about the topic raised.

But that's Steemit.

Greetings!

But that's Steemit.

The difference between writing for a contest, and writing for passion.

If you like your films - @ thescreenaddict might be of interest to you. He works in the movie industry and often writes on the subject.

Some years ago, I set myself the task of watching IMDB's Top 250 movies - a good challenge because movies come and go and the list changes. After about a decade, I've nearly watched the Top 100 and have been surprised by some that I've found and enjoyed. Particularly some of the Bollywood and Ghibli movies that I certainly wouldn't have watched without this "challenge".

I'm certainly no film buff though - I like the escapism that a 2-3 hour movie provides.

I'll start following him. Thanks for the feedback.

I totally agree with your thoughts..
It will be a shame to see lots of forced comments. I guess we all seeing the true colours now!
