Birds Of A Different Feather............ NW Cascade Wanderings

The saying goes, ‘birds of a different feather flock together’. I suppose that might actually be true. Take this fellow in the first picture; he is definitely alone, which means there are none around him that are like him.

Now you must always will find these next birds in a flock together.

Chickens do like to hang out together!

Today, I had only one errand to run-dropping off a package for FedEx since they were closed on Friday for the 4th. That took us to Lynden and while there, we partook of a bit of coffee. When exiting the Starbucks, this little guy landed on the drive thru exit sign.

It was his landing there that gave me the idea for tonight’s post. I dug through my archives and found some lovely bird pictures I’d forgotten about. Enjoy!

Not a live bird, but it reminds me of Wellington Peacock, who used to go rogue from his owner’s home and would come live at our house until about three months when they’d come looking for him. He was unique as he only had one leg plus, he would fan his feathers out in all of his glory, and let me pet him while he ‘drummed’! It was quite the experience! When his tail feathers were completely fanned out, they were almost as tall as I am! He was quite the bird!

I also got lucky a couple years ago-in the right place at the right time. These were taken up at the dry cabin owned by Grant. We periodically check on his place as he lives up Canada way.

Amazing little birds-those hummers are!

Love the red beak on this guy.

Now this one might be called a ‘bird catcher’!

I think he’s too sleepy to care!

It’s hard to believe that I’m almost at the end of my 5 day mini vacation, but alas, it’s true. 😔 I do have ladies Bible study tomorrow.

That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV Isaiah 61:10-11

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Hey @elizabethbit, what a delightful avian adventure! Your post chirps with joy, from the lone bird on the sign to the memories of Wellington Peacock. I love how a simple coffee run sparked this collection of beautiful bird photos – a true testament to finding inspiration in everyday moments.

The hummingbird shots are absolutely stunning! It's clear you have a knack for capturing these feathered friends in their natural glory. And Wellington Peacock sounds like quite the character! Thanks for sharing these joyful images and the uplifting verse from Isaiah. It's posts like these that make Steemit a brighter place.

What's the most unique bird you've ever encountered? I'd love to hear more stories!
