Betterlife -The Diary Game |22nd March, 2025 | Embracing the Blessings of Ramadan: A Day in My Life

Ramadan is a month of spiritual reflection, gratitude, and togetherness. As a Muslim, I hold these sacred days dear and welcome the peace and devotion they provide. The days of Ramadan each have their meaning and are filled with prayers, community and heartwarming moments.

On this particular day, I moved the alarm a little later than normal and promptly got up for my son. I try to make the best of it because mine is always through to the very end to ensure my purses refuse to weigh more than usual, especially this month. After he had settled in, I threw myself into household duties, “straightening up” everything in preparation for getting on with the rest of my day.

An event occurred, sudden but important, when members of the fire service arrived at our building. Recently, a fire had started in one of the apartments, and although, by the grace of Allah, it didn't cause much harm, it reminded us that we needed a safety precaution plan in our community. The officials held a briefing on using fire extinguishers and measures needed to be taken when a fire would occur. This was an informative and reassuring visit, one that ensured us we are prepared and responsible.

Once they left, I got back into my day, crossing a couple of tasks off my list before getting a nice bath and heading into prayer. Later in the afternoon, I began to prepare for an iftar party hosted by the ladies’ community. With great excitement, I slipped into my formal attire and headed to the venue.

When I arrived, the women in our community embraced me warmly. About things we hold dear to us, we smiled and took some really nice photos together. When iftar time neared, our senior bhabi came and we looked forward to the time when we will break our fast. The iftar moment was very special, moments of togetherness and sharing gratitude. Once everyone had their meal, we gathered and snapped some more pictures, before we made our way to dinner.

And so, after I had dinner, I said goodbye to everyone and went home and reflected on the day. Ramadan has always been about togetherness, acts of kindness, and bonding with our faith. Having daily chores and activities are all there, yet the time set for prayer, family and peers, the month become so wholesome.

So in a nutshell, my days of Ramadan are simple but full of meaning. They are a reminder of gratitude, spiritual devotion, and the value of being together. I am sincerely thankful for the chance to feel the tranquility and gifts of this month of worship, savoring every second of it with faith and tranquility in my heart.
