A Gift of Health: Getting My Son a Treadmill

After almost a month of checking the delayed delivery, this morning, I finally received a call informing me that my order from Shoppe ( an online store ) was about to be delivered. I thought it would be convenient if it were delivered earlier, before lunch. So with a pleading voice, I asked the delivery driver, "Could you please deliver it before noon? so my son could help carry it for me."... he answered, "No worries, just bring the exact amount... I don't have change for any extra." So deal!

Turns out, all my endless nights of Shopee scrolling have paid off! Believe it or not, it took me days before I found this quality treadmill for ₱3,575 (around 492 STEEM) Yes, from a Chinese online store that offered the best deal. I hope this will last longer. We are super excited, yet I needed the strength of my son to carry the whole thing inside. You know, this treadmill is quite solid, I couldn't give a lift! After paying, I made sure to tip the delivery guy extra, as he practically saved us from needing a crane. He did deliver it just a walking distance from our house.

It's unboxing time! As soon as the box arrived at our house, we immediately open it, First I look for the manual and the accessories needed like screws, good thing it was complete. Then I just followed what was instructed in the manual, then boom...perfect! But wait, there's a little surprise, the seller includes a freebie, which is a body twister! I told my son, "Oh, this box is not all about you, I have mine too!"

Moment of truth! After assembling everything, there he was, the one who tried it first. I told him that we have to see some video first for him to have an idea, and he should be careful because it might malfunction and he could get an injury... But he told me, 'Oh, that's easy to use.' And just like that, he went ahead and took off.

As a mama, I felt at ease now, with all this endless scattered rain keeping us indoors and scary news about monkeypox going around, this treadmill will be our new safety net. It cost more than I'd usually spend, but seeing my son jogging safely at home instead of risking the wet streets? That peace of mind is priceless."

Now that it's here, my son acted like a personal tracker, had it over. If you only knew, every single day I'd get interrogated... "Mom, did it ship yet?" So, of course, I had to mess with him, "This treadmill cost exactly one pair of school uniform and your notebooks... plus no more baon this school year!" The way his eyes bugged out... never mind!

On the other side, despite the expenses, I’m also thankful to my son for being concerned about his weight and health. At the age of 15, he said they need to trim down since school is about to start. Here at home, he also has several pieces of exercise equipment, like weights, which he uses regularly. I hope he carries this habit with them as he grows older and eventually passes it on to his children.

The real treatment our kids need is an investment in their health, not those latest gadgets, as the trend nowadays.
No judgment here, we could easily spoil them with phones or gaming consoles, but nothing beats giving them the gift of wellness. The reason why I chose to surprise my son with this treadmill instead.

And let's be true, while gadgets become outdated, good health habits last a lifetime. This treadmill isn't just equipment... It's my love letter to my son's future."
