Do you fear Dogs as pets? The German Shepherd or the Caucasian Shepherd
Hello, my fellow Steemians...
I have always had a passion for animals, and for today's own, I'll be talking about dogs. Dogs are always called man's best friend; do you ever wonder why? Why do they seem to be so unique among other pets there are? Well, there are many answers and many thoughts surrounding these questions.
It is well known that dogs have been man's best friend from a long time ago. They help in hunting, in guarding, in guiding and finally in providing support and comfort.
What makes them so unique from other pets is their strength, most times their intelligence, and then finally their courage when faced with testing situations. The two breeds that go well for me are Caucasian Shepherd and German Shepherd. The two here have qualities that the other does not have.
My family first got the German shepherd as a security dog because of its loyalty to its owner. She stayed with us for over six months and grew fond of us. But something was missing. Every animal deserves their other half, and for that reason we got a male Caucasian Shepherd to serve as her mate. The two were about a year different in age, with the female being the older one. With time they grew fond of one another and studied each other's moods and lifestyle.
Physical appearances |
|---|
The German Shepherd's fur was sort of brownish in colour, while the Caucasian's was majorly ash and black with fur closely packed, unlike the Caucasian. In terms of size, the German shepherd was an inch taller but then had a somewhat friendly, happy look, and the Caucasian was always looking moody; hence, it was rare to tell when he was being friendly or not. The Caucasian grew fast because they have a tendency of growing fat and bulky, unlike the German shepherd, who is built for speed and agility.
Temperament and Behaviour |
|---|
The German shepherd was more loyal in nature as well as friendly, while the Caucasian was dominant and aggressive. They both had one same characteristic, which was being protective of its owner, which is the important part in any dog meant to serve for security purposes.
As said earlier, they both counterbalance each other's characteristics. The German shepherd barks at strangers from far distances to scare them away from getting any closer, but the Caucasian keeps silent and just watches you come closer, waiting to devour any who get closer to it.
Hence, it can be said that at night, one barks to cause alert while the other waits in silence to hunt its prey, which is the best tactical strategy against any housebreaker or robber.
Training and Intelligence |
|---|
The German shepherd learns commands quickly and readily, unlike the Caucasian, who acts bossy most times. They both are intelligent dogs, as each dog is smart on its own level. We take them out for walks each day for about 20-30 minutes. This is because they are still growing and do not need to overly exert themselves for walks.
The German shepherd shows affection to us by wagging its tail in excitement and also licking its owners, to mention a few, while the Caucasian prefers cuddling and leaning towards its owner.
Conclusion |
|---|
If you want a more loyal and friendly dog, I would recommend a German Shepherd, but if you want a vibrant and aggressive dog, I recommend the Caucasian Shepherd. German shepherds are easier to control and are more affectionate, unlike Caucasian shepherds. It all falls back on what you really want to go for, but I would recommend both. They can learn from each other, and that’s the good thing about dogs. Humans can also learn from these dogs. Some lessons include:
Dogs love without condition, which teaches us the importance of selfless love. Dogs forgive quickly even when disciplined, teaching us to forgive freely and keep moving on. Dogs stand by the pack, teaching us the value of commitment and loyalty in relationships. So, let these lessons inspire us to become better versions of ourselves and build stronger relationships with one another.
