Mixed Rice: Tips for Differentiating
Hello Steemit friends, good night and best wishes to everyone. How are you today? I hope you are all in good health and always under the protection of Allah SWT, allowing you to carry out all your activities well.
Rice is a crucial agricultural commodity for the Indonesian people. It is the primary food source for almost the majority of Indonesians on a daily basis. Rice production is a key driver of the Indonesian economy. Rice is a staple food for most Indonesians and contributes more than half of the average daily calorie requirement. The rice plant, belonging to the genus Oryza, has been a staple food even before the birth of the beloved nation of Indonesia. Rice has been a staple food for Indonesians since the time of the ancient kingdoms to the present day. With an annual production of 35.4 million metric tons, Indonesia is the fourth largest rice producer in the world, after China, India, and Bangladesh.
Rice, a staple food in Indonesia, has led many irresponsible parties to engage in fraudulent practices, creating counterfeit and adulterated rice to sell to the public at low prices. Therefore, the National Food Agency, which is responsible for rice procurement in Indonesia, is urging the public to be more careful in selecting rice for consumption. Fake and adulterated rice is certainly detrimental to consumers. Adulterated rice is a mixture of premium and medium-grade rice, sold at a premium price. Arief Prasetyo Adi, Head of the National Food Agency (Bapannas), hopes the public will be able to visually distinguish rice.
Consumers can easily distinguish between adulterated and unadulterated rice. If the rice contains many broken grains, it is almost certainly medium rice, as the maximum is 25 percent broken grains. However, if it contains more whole grains, it is certain to be premium rice. Regarding the high number of adulterated premium rice, the head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bapannas) explained that this practice does exist, involving mixing broken grains with whole grains. However, this mixing must comply with government-set quality standards. Consumers should be wary of premium rice adulterated with rotten rice, as this can be detrimental.
That concludes the important information about rice, a staple food for the Indonesian people. Thank you, and I hope this information is helpful to all my Steemit friends.
