The Diary Game [16/08/25] : Instead of the first, we took the second position again.

On the 16th day of August 2025, I watched a football match finals and I experienced a lot of things that day and a lot of pictures were taken. I forgot to even take some pictures of myself because I was carried away with other things. I was just feeling awkward somehow. Walk with me as I tell you the complete activities of that day.

Morning Period

I woke up with a very bright mind that morning and ofcourse I was supposed to go to church that morning. I spent some moments with my phone that early morning because I know the activities for that day won't permit me to spend time with my phone. I arrived at the church few minutes past 8am and I was surprised that the morning mass haven't ended yet.

I entered the church and noticed that baptism took place few minutes ago and our Reverend Father talked about few things about the sacrament of baptism that were very necessary at that moment. When the mass ended my fellow Altar Servers and I began our activities for that morning and as soon as we finished doing some cleanup we entered the church and started our rehearsal. I tried my best to ensure that we round up for the day on time so that I can go to the house early, eat my remaining breakfast and then return to the church so that I can follow our team to the venue of the football match.

Afternoon Period

I left the house with my younger brother after we came back from church and got ourselves ready to watch the match. My right eye wasn't ok but it wasn't a big issue, I was seeing well with it, is just that it was itching me. We arrived at the church and saw some of the players already waiting for the bus to arrive and we waited with them until the bus came and we all headed straight to the venue of the match.

When we arrived we didn't see our opponent and that was the first time such a thing happened in this year's tournament because our opponents were always reaching the venue of the previous matches we played with them, before us. The finally came when our players were warming up and in the next few minutes all the players lined up and somethings were talked about before the match officially started.

It was a very tensed match and I didn't want us to lose the match because if we do we are going to get the second position again as that was what we got in the previous tournament. Alot of us were standing at the side of the field watching the game and we weren't happy that our team haven't scored yet after we planned to score an early goal. The first half then ended as a goalless draw and our players sat down to listen to instructions given by the assistant coach and to also drink some water.

Second half started and the match got more tensed. I made some videos with one of the players phone and I took some of the pictures in this post with that phone as my phone camera isn't clear enough. Our opponent scored us and I felt very bad that moment. I also believed in my team and the match was getting more heated till when the final whistle was blown by the referee. We lost the match and took the second position again, I felt really bad. We have worked hard to get that far and we couldn't score one goal.

Evening Period

The match ended 1 - 0 and the players in my team were feeling very bad as well, our young goalkeeper was so frustrated because during our previous games that brought us to this final, he saved some penalties and became one of the reasons we got that far. He felt like his efforts got wasted. Our Reverend Father presented the trophies and cash prizes to the various team captains and our opponent were so excited that they won.

This is the first time they are reaching finals in a tournament like this and they won it. Some of them sympathized with my church players and we all took alot of pictures. It was a very long day as I saw a lot of things and I pray we win the tournament next time. The tournament will be hosted in 2027 because I noticed they skipped one year before this one was hosted and the one for Altar Servers was skipped this year which makes me believe we will have our own next year while the youths that has theirs this year will have it again in 2027.

In the last picture for this post you will see our captain carrying the trophy on his shoulder mimicking what Cristiano Ronaldo did this year when Portugal won the Nations league after winning Spain in the finals. My younger brother and I went back to the house and told our family all that happened that day. I got the opportunity to operate my phone after taking my bath and I also ate dinner few minutes later. I slept on time that night because I was very tired and I needed to wake up before 5am the next day so that I can prepare to serve the 6am Sunday mass at our outstation.
