They say the love of garri is the beginning of wisdom 😂
So , today, me and my little brother gave frying of garri a try. Not my first time though, but it has been years.
My parents already set the fire and fried one pot of garri .l, then they left us to take over .
Before they left, I was breaking the lumps and sieving it with my brother. But after they left, I left that for my brother to do, then went to fry the garri.

The work looks easy. But, when you start feeling pains on your shoulder for stirring for too long , smoke start coming at your face, then you have to close your eye and wait for the smoke to change direction. You'll know how hard it is to fry Garri.
I took the stirring bowl which is made of wood, the same material used in making calabash is the same used for the bowl.
Poured the sieved wet garri which is in form of powder into the frying pot. Then I started stirring it.
I kept stirring,then relax sometimes, but not for too long to avoid getting the garri in the post burnt. And also creating big lumps inside the pot.
If you watched the video, you could see that the raw cassava powder was poured into the post in small quantity. After frying for about 20 minutes, another raw powder was added. We repeated this process 2 times before allowing it to finally dry and pouring it out.
The raw powder is usually many and heavy. But after being fried, it becomes small and light because of loss of humidity.
It takes about an hour to fry on big pot of garri. This is just an estimate, as it van vary due to individual and the amount of heat produced by the fire.
After me and my bro finish frying that one pot, we put out the fire ended ended things there, because I can't kill myself.
This thing hard dahhhhhhhh😂.
VARIOUS WAYS TO EAT GARRI
1 Sipping;
This method is popular among Nigerians, where you pour in a certain quantity of garri into a bowl and you add cold water.The water should be more then the garri. You can choose to add salt, milk, sugar and so on.
Just like you want to prepare cornflakes, anything you fell comfortable to add, add and enjoy your soaked garri .
2Chewing dry;
Yes you can just choose to chew your garri dry, with groundnut, coconut etc. Thereafter, you drink water and go your way.
3 Swallow:
This is usually accompanied with a delicious soup. Also very popular in Nigeria. This method, you soak it with hot water. Then you turn it till it solidify, not hard solid. Just in form of a dough which you can cut in round shape, dip it into your soup and swallow easily .
