‎Sometimes life pushes us so hard that we almost lose ourselves trying to survive.
‎This is the story of how one wrong decision nearly cost me my life but also how grace found me just in time.

‎I want to sincerely appreciate the Ladies Universe Community for creating this beautiful space where women can freely share their real-life stories and find strength in one another. A special thanks to our lovely host @ruthjoe for always encouraging us to speak our truth with confidence.

‎And my heartfelt gratitude goes to @ukpono for inviting me to participate in this week’s contest, thank you for believing my story is worth sharing.

My struggle and Battle

‎During my first year at the university, precisely the second semester of 100 level, life was really tough for me. Everyone who had promised to support me once I gained admission suddenly disappeared. It felt like I was left alone to face a mountain I didn’t prepare for.

‎I struggled through my first semester with tears and determination. I hawked corn just to survive, and the second semester was even more unbearable. I could barely feed myself, talk less of paying school fees.

‎Out of desperation, I started making friends, hoping that somehow, they could advise or help me find a way out. Little did I know that their “help” would lead me into something that almost destroyed my life.
I meet a destruction in the name of friend

‎One fateful day, I opened up to a friend and told her everything : my story, my pain, and how miserable things had become. She listened quietly and then said she had something that could make me money easily. Curious and desperate, I asked what it was. She looked at me and said, “It’s hookup.”

‎Her words echoed in my ears like a sharp sound I couldn’t believe. I was shocked. I couldn’t imagine myself doing such a thing. But at that time, the pressure was too much. I was tired, broke, and frustrated. She tried to convince me, saying, “Just do it once, pay your fees, and stop. Nobody will ever know.”

‎Those words sounded like a lifeline, a bad one, but still a way out. And so, I gave in. That same day, she gave me the “Chi’s” number. I called her, and she connected me to a man.

The day I almost lost my life

‎ ‎
‎When I arrived at the location, everything felt strange. The man looked at me with an unsettling smile, he went into the bathroom to freshing up, little did I know he was one of the Yahoo boys in town or ritualist, he wasted so much time in there, so I decided to go and peep, I almost fainted he was doing incantation with red rapper, I couldn't scream and started mumbling words I didn’t understand. My heart skipped. Fear gripped me. ‎ ‎Without saying a word, I quietly picked up my bag and ran out of that place with all the strength left in me. That was how God saved my life that day. If I had stayed one more minute, I might not have been alive to tell this story. ‎***My lifetime lesson***

‎That experience taught me a lesson I will never forget not every opportunity should be grabbed. Some open doors lead straight into destruction. Since then, I’ve learned to trust God and be patient for the right time and the right help.

‎Now when I look back, I don’t see that day as a shameful past but as a turning point. It was the moment I realized my life was worth more than temporary relief. I may not have everything I want today, but I have peace, dignity, and purpose and that is far more valuable than any quick fix.

‎I want to use this opportunity to Invite my friends to join this contest.

Phew!
Every young person needs a skill. It's what keeps you afloat until you are able to fully establish yourself.

Imagine earning at least 3-5k per day. That can help settle basic financial needs in the long run.

Nonetheless, there's a lesson from every experience. I do not wish any girl to experience this.
