Angel told her husband that she made breakfast and he should eat before going to work. Mr. Uzor replied that he doesn't like eating breakfast because it makes him feel lazy. Angel insisted that breakfast is important, especially after what they learned at a health conference. Mr. Uzor disagreed, saying he gets enough nutrition even if he eats later. Angel expressed concern for his health and said she didn't want him to have any issues.

Despite her warnings, Mr. Uzor continued to skip breakfast until he was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. One day, he felt weak and had chest pain, asking Angel for help. She assisted him to the car and took him to the hospital. After tests, he was given medication and told to return for results. The next day, the doctor confirmed that Mr. Uzor had cardiovascular disease.



Breakfast has been since ages the most important meal that no one including me should miss. But unfortunately, it is missed with so many reasons attached to it as an excuse. Just like Mr Uzor, he said eating breakfast makes him weak to run his day, wow!

It was new for me because to the best of my knowledge, breakfast helps us stay strong and energized to run our day. Mr uzor was not thinking straight probably because he skips breakfast, otherwise how did he not think about the side effect of skipping breakfast even when the wife reminded him about it.

There are so many excuses people give for skipping breakfast; some would say they want to loose weight, or they don't feel hungry or it makes them lazy just like Mr Uzor. I have shared an interesting write up months back, Why skip breakfast? you may want to read through it.

When you eat breakfast, your brain functions well, you think well. How can a school child go to school in the morning without eating breakfast and when that child returns, the mom would expect him to take first position in school? No, it's not rocket science.

I had an experience when I skipped breakfast and went for lectures during my university days. Although I didn't have what to eat but I was supposed to eat something just by the school gate before lecture time but I didn't because I was running late. I managed with it for the first lecture and the second lecture but when it was time for the third lecture, I was distracted, I couldn't focus anymore. I stopped writing and paying attention, that experience was hell. It was as good as not attending the lecture because I was not myself anymore.

Eating late is bad how much more skipping breakfast. Do you know how many hours you sleep at night and how long you stay hungry? It's over 7-8 hours which makes it the longest hours to stay hungry and needs a meal immediately you wake up. The day I discovered the hidden truth in eating breakfast, my life has never remained the same.

Even if you are not used to eating early, you can go for fruits, oats, cereals, or anything light to start up than going empty to work or school. When people tend to lose weight, they skip breakfast. Was it said anywhere that skipping breakfast makes one lose weight? You are only incurring more harm than good.

Benefits of eating breakfast

• Keeps the heart safe from disease: When you don't ewt breakfast when due and later you co.e to eat, you'd probably be eating double and that may lead to weight gain which can cause high blood pressure, diabetes and these can increase your chances of developing heart disease.

• A good source of energy: Those who eat breakfast gain more energy to run the day than those who do not. This does not gain you weight because you have been active and burning off some calories.

• Good for the brain: Breakfast keeps the brain active giving it the speed to which it can process, reason, create, learn and speak. This could be caused by the glucose generated from breakfast.

• Keeps the mood alive: After a long night sleep,eating in the morning sets your mood for the day.

• Keeps you safe from migraine: When you eat breakfast, it keeps you safe from developing headache. Migraine can be very distractive and could ruin your day.

In conclusion

Breakfast should not be joked with to avoid developing some diseases which may likely harm us. When eating breakfast, it shouldn't be heavy, it should be something light that would help you stay active for the day.

Just have it saved that breakfast does not gain weight, it only helps one stay healthy.
