Tell Your Story #55: When the Power Went Out
Hello everyone !! Glad to have you back on this week's edition of the contest. Hope we all are doing just great. I would like to appreciate @ruthjoe for organising this amazing contest. I believe it's one of the best contests I'd participate in this week.
What Happened:
Last week, my city faced long hours of load shedding (power cuts). The electricity would disappear for 6-7 hours daily espacially during the hottest part of the day. One afternoon, I was working on an important online assignment when suddenly the power went out. My laptop battery died nd the moblie data was too slow to finish my work. I felt so Frustrated! 😣
But the worst part was seeing how it affected my neighbor’s daughter, Ayesha. She had been studying for months for her final online interview of a scholarship , a chance that could change her future. That day the electricity went out just 10 minutes before her interview was supposed to start. Her family rushed to borrow a UPS or generator but no one in our area had one to spare.
Ayesha kept refreshing her phone, praying for the power to come back, but it didn’t. Her eyes filled with tears as the interview passed nd she missed her chance. She sat on the floor hugging her knees, sobbing uncontrollably. "All my hard work is wasted," she kept repeating. Her mother tried to comfort her but even she looked helpless.💔
I felt so angry why should a bright girl like Ayesha suffer because of something as basic as electricity? Her family couldn’t afford expensive backup systems nd now her dream was slipping away. That moment made me Realize how unfair life can be. Ayesha wasn’t just missing an interview she was losing hope. It wasn’t just about power cuts it was abt broken promises, unequal opportunities nd how the system fails those who need it most.
What I Learned:
- Small Problems Affect Big Dreams – Something as simple as electricity can ruin opportunities for students like Ayesha.
- We Take Things for Granted I never realized how much we depend on power until it was gone.
- Community Matters Next time, I’ll share my charger or help others during outages.
This week taught me to be Patient nd grateful for what I have. It also made me angry why should women struggle jst bcz basic facilities fail? I hope things change soon.💫
"Thank you for reading my story. Your time means a lot let’s hope for a world where no girl’s dreams are stolen by darkness.🪷"
I invite my friends

Assalam o Alaikum, dear friend, first I want to say thanks for inviting me in this amazing contest.Secondly , I really like your story ,a very heart touching.I feel very sad for Ayesha. But Allah Almighty will give her more than enough. In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: "That with hardship comes ease".Best of luck for the contest.
Wa Alaikum Assalam! Thank you for your kind words and beautiful reminder from the Quran. Your support means a lot to me. May Allah bless you too with endless happiness and ease. Ameen!
This story you've shared hit deep. Some of the stars we have have got limited due to absence of essential amenities like electricity, good roads and adequate security. This is why I encourage more kind hearted people to participate in politics.
No one understands the plight of others if they have not had a taste of what lack and negligence of leaders is.
Contact the political leader in your district or province. Tell them your struggles. They'd definitely listen no matter how long it takes.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!❤️
You’re right good leaders can make a big difference when they understand people’s struggles. I hope more caring people step up to help.!!
